Shameful performance by Toledo.

Gonna be a long couple months.

LOL. 1 game means its going to be a long season?

I think it shows we played some garbage competition in non conf.

Still no defense to be found. Will be eaten alive in the league for that.

Team looks like they quit tonight. Effort is abysmal.

We played better teams than Ball State. A big loss early on the road doesn't worry me much. This team is talented and will bounce back. Still may be around .500 in league play but I expected that as best case scenario.

Agreed. Coming into the season I hoped for an overall & conference record that both ended up a game or 2 over .500 and this team can still achieve that conference mark and, if so, will be guaranteed a winning record overall. Not bad for a team with so many freshmen and only 2 returning starters. D continues to be our Achilles heel, we can't afford to have Boothe and Jon Jon be ineffective in the same game, and the freshmen will be inconsistent. But I still believe this team will pull off an upset, maybe even 2, with one coming on the road, and we will be that team nobody wants to play in the conference tournament.

A young team whose star player is a senior. Do they get better or worse next year?

Better if Taylor, Adway and Knapke >Boothe.

Just watched just the video of the coach's postgame comments - it was a little hard for me to hear everything he said, but he thought lack of confidence on offense affected the play on defense. Also said they didn't react well when they fell behind. At least that's how I heard it.

Here's a link to the game story on the UT site: the video is there as well.

Agree... said earlier we will be .500 in the league. Not sure why we played such a weak non conference schedule, perhaps couldnt find anyone. Playing good teams sheds light, opens players up to realities and I think gives them confidence. Even though we lost bad it will be fun to the watch the team develop. Oh and the defense... ehh ya wonder what type of commitment the staff puts on D.

Coach K is a real great guy but he does not seem to be able to bring Toledo a real winner. He reminds me of Larry Gibson--awesome personality but never won a championship. Toledo recruits good players but not guys who can dominate a game. The school better decide if mediocrity is OK or if we really want to win. How many decades have to pass before Toledo makes the NCAA tournament again?

Good test coming up on the road against Miami. One of us goes to 0-2 in the MAC. Not too many "favorable" chances for a road win for us this season, but this is one. On the positive side, Miami is only shooting about 30% from 3, and so far hasn't made that a key part of their offense, so hopefully they won't rain 13 of them down on us like the Cardinals did...but, their 2 leading scorers, Washington & McKnight, are both good at driving into the lane (and did so easily against BG), which has been a challenge for our D. I still maintain that when Sanford & Navigato combine for 20 or more points, we are in good shape--didn't happen against Ball State. Look for a bounce back all the way around from the Rockets next game.

Navigato is definitely streaky.

I think it's Freshman streaky. He'll get more consistent as the season goes on. Right now he's probably over thinking everything.

Exactly. He was 1-6 in the first half. To clarify my earlier point & concur with yours, Boca Rocket, when he & Sanford are hitting for 20+combined, the game is likely coming to them...making those around them more effective as well, meaning we're more likely to see a Rocket victory. They'll both be fine in the long haul, offensively. Defensively, we do need them to keep getting better through experience (physically quicker and better decisions) since they are both generally guarding perimeter players and that's where opponents have had more luck against us (shooting 3s and driving into the lane).
