How they look good against Arizona the past 2 seasons, and then fall apart after that? One year, they did play well against Oklahoma State.

It's called getting up for a big opponent. As the season wears on, depth and motivation becomes an issue, especially if losses pile up.

He fired his OC immediately after the season and hadn't named a replacement. I think they lost two or three more assistants on top of the coordinators.

Buyout unless he agreed to a lopsided deal will be at least $1.35 million.

As a EMU fan, I can support this statement, our head coach was hired from a non scholarship FCS school.

I love Eastern Michigan. You guys made 2015 Army look like the 1944 version. And you are a great poster and fan. As a St. Francis University football fan, I understand your pain.

UTSA football has only been around 5 years. What, you thought he'd be done in three seasons?

There must be more to the story.

They lost to North Texas a few weeks after Portland State blew them out 66-7. I think the natives were getting impatient and restless.

Fastest way to get fired...lose the home crowd. Crowds instead of pushing 30k like they did 2 years ago were in the low/mid teens.

But how much of the home crowd was there for the novelty and not really "fan base". They did a great job marketing but I believe if you go back and look, Arena Football, the AFL, USF, WFL, all opened to nicer numbers than they settled into for the next season or so.

I think that is somewhat true...UTSA is still prime positioned to capture a decent fanbase. Nearly 2 million folks in the area and no other competing football for the casual fans. I realize the UT/TAMU, etc...fans will still follow their teams but lots of transplants and immigrants here and they are pumping out a ton of grads each year.

They need to play a few big boy teams each year to drive ticket sales and frankly they are a desirable away game for the Big Boys in a H/H deal. Their main issue is they need to win 5-6 conference games to keep the momentum.

I think Larry's issue was age catching up to him...UTSA would be smart to get a Briles disciple in there.

UT is a competing fanbase. If it wasn't so close and incumbent, there'd be no issue but UTSA will struggle unless they start winning more. Didn't they pay any attention to Boise? You schedule down and win games, not schedule too hard.

Boise had 30k seats to fill...UTSA has a 67K seat Dome

No one back then was willing to travel to Boise...lots of P5 schools are willing to travel to SA.

Which is another issue. I have never known a college team to fill a pro sports stadium unless that pro sports team left (USC).

UTSA=USF

Both are playing in places off campus...UTSA has a goal for an oncampus stadium...we'll see.

P5 schools are now willing to travel to Boise to play Boise State. They should be up to 53,000 by next year.
