New CBS and ESPN bracketology
CBS has La Tech in as a 12 seed against Duke.

ESPN has the only CUSA team as UTEP. They listed the Miners as a 16 seed in a play in game.....our conference is bad but not that bad.

sounds like another year of cusa hoops....after watching the ooc play out, I think one would be hard pressed to believe anything other than the conference champ gets in the dance....

RE: New CBS and ESPN bracketology
Unless someone runs the table, this is definitely a one bid league this year. However, I certainly don't think its a 16 seed league. I would expect an 11 or 12 seed if one of the top four teams wins the tourney. Not good either, but not as bad as a 16. CUSA should be at least 2 bids with approximately 9 and 11 seeds most seasons.

I don't think they do ANY conference champs from any of the mid-major conferences lower than a 12? The selection committee might have before, but I can't remember it happening?

ODU was a 9 and 11 seed in it's most recent NCAA appearances coming from the CAA. It's not uncommon.

As someone pointed out on our Rivals board, UTEP was plugged in by espn because at the moment, UTEP leads the conference with a 2-0 record. So whoever put that together put no effort into it. If instead they used the team with the highest current RPI, the seed would have not been so low.

8 through 11's I can get... and even 12's. But I can't realliy recall any conference champion (regular season that gets in) ending up with a 13 or worse off the top of my head from the mid-majors.

(Granted, C-USA doesn't even seem like a mid-major this year in BB)

It's not that Lunardi put no effort into it. He's always put first place in conference as the auto bid. That's his practice.

Even a low-major conference can produce a relatively higher seed if their representative is really good. Davidson was a 10 seed the year they reached the Elite 8, and Winthrop was a 10 seed in 2007.
