DL Coach Jimmy Williams to WMU
http://footballscoop.com/the-scoop/
Quote:Western Michigan: Per source, Eastern Michigan defensive line coach Jimmy Williams is joining the Western Michigan staff in the same capacity. Prior to joining the EMU staff in February of 2014, Williams was the assistant head coach / defensive coordinator / inside linebackers coach at UAB.

RE: DL Coach Jimmy Williams to WMU
They are playing musical coaches in K'zoo.
Think they lost two, including Mike Hart, and now pick up one from us.
Interesting that players don't (or "can't" move within conferences) but coaches do...

RE: DL Coach Jimmy Williams to WMU
WMU has offered two of our verbals including DL Justice Williams, hopefully they don't go along with Williams.

Here's another one:

Nice resume for the UTSA guy. Also like the first line of his Bio...."knowledgeable recruiter for more than 20 years."
Obviously out of work with Coker leaving UTSA, Neatherly ties, Texas ties, sign him up!

Why would he go from head coach to DL assistant? Any ties to Creighton or Neatherly? Or you're just saying because he's an EMU alum?
Thanks
Hm everytime the HC job becomes open at EMU Banazak's name gets mentioned. I don't know if he ever intererviewed. At least at the Div III level developed a nice resume. There's nothing wrong with hiring alumnis heck I look at Charlie Batch as a QB in a heartbeat. I'm sure a FCS head coach salary is not world beating. but it does raise a question I mean how much does CC interact with former EMU alums who are football players?

I mentioned Lee because he worked Jay Peterson who was the defensive coordinator when Lee was defensive line coach. We had some nice DL during the Genyk years including Jason Jones.

Banaszak won't take an assistant's position at EMU. He was a finalist for the head coaching job when Genyk got the gig. Left a lot of alumni angry. Banaszak was the clear favorite of many at the time and after going through that process and being passed over, I doubt he would have any desire to take an assistant's gig after being spurned.

In all honesty Banaszak has a much better resume now than he did when he interviewed for the job that Genyk got. He better produce better results at Robert Morris or he'll be in the unemployment line.

EMU is one the few places that doesn't cherish it's alumni. You mention someone like Ron Adams and people around here act likes he's Howdy Doody.
I would love a staff that includes Charlie Batch, Ron Adams, and Kevin Walter.

I really can't believe he was a candidate for the job Genyk got.
Now, I'd think he'd be a MAC coordinator candidate, i.e., he can be at a school like Robert Morris or be a coordinator at a G5 school in FBS.

Well, I can personally assure you he was a candidate and was a finalist. Genyk was a better pitchman.

I can tell you that if his name was 'Smith' and he played at CMU (instead of EMU) he would not have gotten an interview.
He might be loved by EMU fans, but he doesn't have a FBS HC resume and certainly didn't have it back then.
Was it a 'gesture' to him????/

How many times do I need to express it was a serious candidacy? He had a stellar record as head coach at W&J and being a Super Bowl defensive MVP member of the Pittsburgh Steelers also gave him a lot of gravitas.

Buffalo hired a DIII guy to be the head coach.
