Two college coaches who, sources say, are trying hard to get to the NFL: UCLA's Jim Mora and Texas A&M's Kevin Sumlin...

That would be two major jobs opened up.

Good luck trying to get out of the sinking ships before being fired coaches. I'm sure the agents will try to get them out of the sinking ships.

Sumlin would be well advised to jump off his sinking ship as soon as possible.

If true for Sumlin, that kind of desperation would make Cleveland a viable option.

Sumlin especially doesn't seem like he's a fit for the NFL.

For the Cleveland Browns sake hopefully they aren't considering Sumlin as a candidate. They don't need to take a chance on a guy to see if he can make the transition from college to the pros.

It appears as though Johnny Manziel is out at Cleveland. Although I guess a new regime could change their mind

The real question here is wether or not Sumlin is NFL HC material. He hasn't exactly set the world on fire at the top college level and more disturbingly has had trouble with his kids. If you can't deal with college kids you probably aren't equipped to deal with grown ass men being paid millions of dollars.

It's a different game in the NFL.

Why not? Haslett has fired 3 Coaches and GM's since he bought the team. The Browns aren't going to be able to attract anyone NFL Coach or Coordinator of note with that kind of track record.

It's a shame Pettine didn't work out. I was rooting for him, since he came from good football stock in SEPA and got a pro HC gig without going through the collegiate level, which is mired in ridiculous politics that would have added at least a decade to his career path if coaching in the pros was something he wanted. Someone took a chance on him in Baltimore...I wonder if he goes back there.

If the Eagles do go back to the college ranks, maybe they look in their own backyard this time.

I would be surprised if an NFL team does not go after Hue Jackson.

I don't think he is NFL head coach material. However, what wouldn't surprise me is the Cowboys can Garrett, bring in Johnny football as a QB, since Jerry Jones has a hard on for him. Triggering Jerry Jones to hire Drunklin.

Jackson will definitely get a look. As I QB specialist I think he would be an interesting pick for the Giants.

If Garrett is fired, it is because he is bringing back Sean Payton, or was able to pry one of the analysts always at the forefront of coaching searches every year.

Even if Dallas gets Maziel, he will be the backup quarterback.

I don't know much about Pettine but I thought he was sabotaged by the owner by having to deal with the whole JFF fiasco. I think if he could have stuck with Hoyer, that the Browns could have been properly evaluated.

I know I was being a smart A** . I'm a cowboy fan but not a JJ Fan at all.

Giants OC Ben McAdoo has done a great job with Eli Manning. As a Giants fan if they don't hire McAdoo I want to see them bring in some one who will straighten out the defense. In reality, the Giants would have been a playoff team this year with better clock management, I don't think they need to reinvent the wheel.

RE: Report: Kevin Sumlin, Jim Mora 'trying hard' for NFL jobs
boy the shine sure came off these two turds fast didn't it

mora did not even make it to "sumlin level" of hype or accomplishment before he fell off the map

UCLA is A&M West Coast.......they are the anti-A&M to the point they are just like A&M athletically

great location, hip cool location, great recruiting grounds, tons of resources, have always been the "big boy" in the conference even though they pretty much suck relative to expectations and great academics

but they just suck and under achieve consistently

The Aggies are already painting over Sumlin's parking spot and hanging Chip Kelly's NC banner.
