Maybe the AAC could add the Dallas Cowboys, they're a natural rival for SMU and I hear that they carry the DFW market pretty well.

These notions are pretty silly. The difference in talent is night and day.

RE: Alabama to NFC East
They would be a much better fit in the NFC South
New Orleans, Alabama, Atlanta, Carolina and Tampa Bay. Like a glove.

I didn't read the article but with that said, I don't think anyone takes the idea seriously. Even the best teams of all time, like the Miami team from 2001 and all its future NFL players, had their struggles. Even Alabama's best team would get slaughtered by the worst team in modern NFL history.
Compare that to some really good college basketball teams compared to the worst NBA teams. That would be more of a fair fight, as evidenced by this:
http://articles.baltimoresun.com/1996-07...cy-billups
The '96 national team almost lost to the college team, winning 96-90 after being down by 17.

RE: Alabama to NFC East
The thing is if you read the article, all it says is that Bama is 2-0 at AT&T Stadium this year while the Cowboys are 1-7 so it is more of a home to Bama than to the Cowboys. Nothing to do about how Bama would do in the NFL.

RE: Alabama to NFC East
Bama would never join a division where they would have to play a game in cold weather, so the NFC East is not an option.
Really the only options are NFC South and maybe AFC South. NFC South is really more the deep south (Atlanta, NO, Tampa, Charlotte) so that would be the best option culturally.
Plus Bama will provide a "Bridge" to New Orleans, making for a good travel partner, and we all know how important travel partners are in the NFL.

They'd still get slapped around silly by every single NFL roster and most of the second and third string teams. People forget NFL rosters are compiled of THE BEST college football players.

I don't think anyone is serious about this, so there's no need to explain.

TV would probably dictate the AFC South over the NFC South. If you're a Fox affiliate in Mobile, Montgomery, or Biloxi, how would you choose between showing Alabama, Atlanta, or New Orleans when they all play at the same time? Not to mention the Titans would serve as an apt replacement for the Vols, and both fan bases would travel.
