NC State fires OC Matt Canada
Link

The timing is odd. It seems like Doeren got the "fire somebody or you are fired" speech.

They did loose their leading rusher from last year (Thornton, kicked off team) and this year (Dayes, injury in first half of Clemson game). However, their 3 ACC wins came against teams that were a combined 3-21 in the ACC.

Canada was mentioned as a candidate for the Tennessee OC position last year (got a nice raise out of it) and the ECU HC position this year.

NCSU and UNC should fire their OL and DL coaches. Seems they were both beaten badly at LOS in the bowls.

Huxtable should have been fired before Canada.

I'm willing to give our DL coach another year since this was his first. A second year and more experience should bear fruit.

I don't know that another year is going to make a difference as he is working with limited talent and barring a late commitment once again Fedora isn't addressing the defensive shortcomings either on the line or at LB in recruiting.

Yes they are. The DL and LB recruits currently committed are some of the best we've had in years.

If you guys didn't get rid of your line coach after you gave up 70 to WV then why should we? I know you got rid of Kevin Steele but that was year four.

For your awareness...the last two recruiting classes 2015 + 2016

DL 3 - Four Stars, 4 - Three Stars

LB 5 - Three Stars

DB 2- Four Stars, 6 - Three Stars

In addition, depending on which recruiting site you use, some of the three stars are borderline 4 stars. This is much better than the previous few years.

Because we have one of the best DL coaches in the country in Dan Brooks. with a proven track record going back to the early 1980's. You have a guy that prior to this year only coached two years at Tennessee-Martin.

As for the best DL and LB recruits you have had in years.....are you serious? A couple of three stars are the best you have had in years? If so y'all are in worse shape than I thought.

Scholarship restrictions for three years tend to do that to you. Besides, I don't know where you get a "couple" from. I gave you the breakdown.

Let's see there's 247 Sports. There's ESPN. There's Scout. There's Rivals. I look at them all.

247 and Rivals are my preference.

Kap is the typical negative poster who thinks only kids rated four stars or higher are good players. It's absurd.

Hell, I hope they keep recruiting all the 3 star defensive talent they can get. Maybe next year instead of 30% of the NC top 10 recruits we can get 40-50%, and maybe the next time we meet we can add 90 more yards of total offense like we added this year on their "improved" defense from last year.

Ok Kap. Like you guys have always been defensive stalwarts all the time.

2011 - You give up 70 to West Va
2012 - You give up 49 to FSU and 48 to NC State
2013 - You give up 51 to FSU (at home)
2014 - You give up 45 to Georgia
2015 - You give up 41 to NC State

Even in our game you were a blown offsides call from sweating bullets and watching a perfect season potentially go down the drain. You are the better team right now. Let's not act like you don't have warts too. You just have fewer than we do.

Yep, because no 3 star players are ever any good.

How have your 3 stars fared against the 4 and 5 stars at Clemson and FSU the past two years?

How about a 2* Petrino brought in during his first stint here & who is still playing in the NFL.

I've seen plenty of 2 & 3 * guys outplay 4* studs. Recruiting rankings aren't an exact science.

Yeah Kap you guys have really destroyed us so far. Winning in the last minute in both games. You are an idiot if you think only 4-5 star players are good. I guess anyone rated 3 stars on the Clemson roster should just quit or not expect to ever contribute.
