So what! Some conferences were proven to be significantly weaker than others and some were grossly underrated. It essentially was a ranking of and by records with minor exceptions.

I guessed pretty well. Surprisingly, Notre Dame was dropped to 11 (I guessed #8) and Iowa didn't get punished badly and only dropped to 9 (I guessed #11). Not too surprisingly, they liked Michigan better than Baylor. Other than that I had the teams and order right on the top 15.

Only thing that was a minor surprise in the top 25 was Tennessee finishing so high. They liked the big win over Northwestern. Seems like they had a higher opinion of the Big 10 West than I did. I figured UGA's 10-3 record sitting in #26 would get them ranked and TN or NW would be left out. But they liked the wins of TN (NW and UGA) and NW (Stanford).

Notably, only three 3 loss teams were unranked-Marshall, San Diego St. and Georgia of the SEC. The other 19 P5 three or less loss teams were ranked along with 3 G5 schools. Three 4 loss teams were also ranked-Oregon, Tennessee and Florida.

I had predicted ND to drop to #12.

It is interesting that its three losses were to the #2, #3 and #4 ranked teams on this list, two of them two point losses decided on the last play of the game.

No big wins for ND, but a 10-3 record with major injuries and losses only to the top ranked teams is not a bad year, at all.

If only Temple or Memphis had won their bowl. There would have been 3-4 teams in there.

In other words, they ranked by how they viewed the teams, but made some exceptions based on their actual records.04-cheers

Actually, they used records less than I anticipated.

RE: Final top 10
Appalachian State with a 2 lost team.

G5 team that got votes by conferences.
AAC = 3
MWC = 2
C-USA = 1
MAC = 1 Toledo should be ahead of Arkansas.
SBC =1
Independent = 1
North Dakota State may have some considerations as well since they have been voted at the last polls the last few years. Should the MVFC be consider an FBS conference?

Shere is still 03-hissyfit because the Big East wanted nothing to do with Memphis. Hey shere, UofL beat an SEC team in our bowl game, how did Memphis State do? 03-lmfao Back to irrelevance you go
