You realize he already left and came back once right? Was here from 1998-2003 and again in 2011. Was the offensive coordinator at Indiana in between.

*** Coach Canada and AD Frazier have the UW ties
*** NIU parted ways with both coordinators clearing the way for a brand new staff
*** Coach Doeren releases Coach Canada from his contract
*** Coach Canada seeks his first head coaching position
*** Coach Canada has the requisite P5 experience AD Frazier seeks
*** Having spent a number of seasons in DeKalb, Coach Canada understands NIU and MAC football
*** Buyout of Coach Carey's contract stalls the process

Please come back Canada and be loyal by staying this time. There is a good chance if Carey were to get fired or hired away that he would assume the reigns.

This is the first thing everyone on the board had agreed on in a very long time.

In that 2011 highlight video, there are two things to point out:

1. Harnish was a stud, he would make any offensive coordinator look good.

2. I did hear the words "play action" several times and I got all warm and fuzzy 03-cloud9

RE: Matt Canada Released By NC State
It seems that Canada's offenses had success at NC State, particularly running the ball. Is it me, or is it a bit of a head scratcher he was let go by DD? It is not as if the offense was really struggling.

A few quotes from the Pack Pride Scout message board. BTW, I'm completely neutral on any potential return of Canada.

Quote:I hate the man lost his job but that offense HAD to go.

Quote:The play calling this year was horrific.

Quote:I will miss the fake jet sweep on every play.

We were pretty darn successful running the jet sweep. We were great at that, QB options, and dinking and dunking our way down the field in the passing game.

Don't forget he was also OC at Wisconsin. His leaving us the second time opened the door for PJ to come for a day, then Dunbar/Carey.

RE: Matt Canada Released By NC State
A little more perspective on the Canada firing from BackingThePack.com:

Quote:This is some questionable timing, to say the least. Parting ways with a coordinator after the major coaching transition period in early-to-mid-December seems like a bad idea. Further, NC State was only days ago touting the Wolfpack offense's "third best scoring average in school history," which it achieved this past season.

It's also surprising given Canada's history with Dave Doeren, dating back to their time together at Northern Illinois. The two seemed to be a good fit in terms of philosophy. Canada signed a three-year extension with NC State in January.

With that said, NC State's offense did regress in some ways this season. Production on a per-play basis dipped, and at times Canada was inexplicably disinterested in finding opportunities for tight end David Grinnage or Jaylen Samuels. Samuels got only four touches in the Belk Bowl--two of which resulted in touchdowns--and Grinnage caught only two passes, which may have crystallized the decision.

Canada was expensive--he was among the highest-paid coordinators in the league, before his extension last January. That could have been a factor as well, but no doubt it cost State more money to fire him now than it did before the school gave him a new contract.
