RE: Two years since ECU launched the Undaunted campaign, how successful has it been?
I hope ECU fans get the humor.
Undaunted is such a terrible name for an athletics campaign. Just the word highlights shortcomings (losing) which are holding you back. You're basically saying, "yes, we're ECU, but we're undaunted." Its the word of the loveable losers. You're gonna keep trying.
As it relates to basketball, it is a canard and that's where the humor comes in. Hoops is clearly daunting to a lot of people. You need some perfume to mask the odor. Lol. Its too bad Lou Brown isn't available.
I feel for you guys. I hope you right the ship (but don't make "right the ship" part of your branding). Fake it till you make it. ECU has all the ingredients to win in both money sports, and develop a more daunting reputation and marketing campaign.

No, that's just your spin.
I see undaunted as a warrior that constantly has obstacles to battle through...as does so without losing its determination.
It's a fact that people view the G5 as underdogs. That is not going to change.
It matters not. I don't think ECU intended this as a campaign as much as it was supposed to be a slogan.
RE: Two years since ECU launched the Undaunted campaign, how successful has it been?
The cleaned up overall look and presentation of ECU and its logos has been noticeably better.
On field performance--I'd go with wash.... Women's Hoops and Baseball have moved up the food chain... football stalled/went down but could be turning up in year 3. Men's hoops has been trending down...
So, the campaign overall with both look and presentation of ECU and on-field performance has been about even. ...Year 3 could be the uptick.

Yeah finally retiring a lot of the useless logos for good was much needed and having a clear way our name is used in broadcasts is noticeable.

Undaunted has nothing to do with success.
To be undaunted, all you have to do is keep trying. It's a word that assumes failure.
It's a word that places more value in the moral victory of just showing up.
RE: Two years since ECU launched the Undaunted campaign, how successful has it been?
Actually, if I recall correctly..."Undaunted" was launched by Terry Holland while ECU was in CUSA and before the invitation to the American Athletic Conference.
So to answer the question, you would have to say it was a HUGE success. If ECU was stuck back in CUSA, it may have been the beginning of the end of its athletic programs. ECU has a bunch of brand new athletic facilities on campus...and is planning on another expansion to the football stadium (the last was in 2010). I would say ECU "remains" undaunted...especially locally within the media and to the many criticisms of the nearby ACC fanbases. ECU's collective passion is really what put itself into the American, not its academics or market size or how much money it had.

Um no. It has a historical context for ECU, Undaunted = Leo Jenkins. Anyone familiar with Dr. Jenkins knows that man was undaunted. That's why its an appropriate campaign slogan for ECU.

Undaunted, by definition, means not being intimidated or discouraged any obstacle placed before you.
And that somehow assumes failure? Ok, bud.
And it was actually a word that had been tagged on our athletic department for years. Terry Holland is who started using it. See here:
The "campaign" was simply a vertical alignment of our branding. Trademarking a font and color hues, and establishing a clear cut mission statement.
Sounds like something that a lot of entities do.
But go ahead with whatever moronic crap you're talking about, I'm sure it makes sense to you.
