It is a bad bowl season this year. Every conference has had teams blown out this bowl season.

The average expected point differential in those games (the average betting point spread) was 6.6.
For the other 27 bowl games played so far, the expected point differential was 4.8 and the actual was 13.8. My gut feel, though, is that those games were much more interesting than that shows. Three games (Boise, Georgia Southern and San Diego State) really skewed the average for the "lesser" bowls, with a 38 point average differential.
