Excerpt:

Tied for the overall lead are the Pac-12 and SEC, each of which picked up its sixth bowl win Saturday: Stanford demolished Iowa 45-16 at the Rose Bowl to give the Pac-12 sole possession of first place for a few hours before Ole Miss evened things up.

Big 12 football has become a disgrace. They don't play any defense anymore. It is all about these wide open offenses to try and score as many points as you can. When the offense isn't doing its job, then they get blown out.

With two Major bowl wins, the SEC has to be #1. Also, IIRC, the PAC has a few bowl wins over very soft west coast G5 teams.

I think the more interesting # is how many bowl eligible teams did each conf have. as compared to # of members.

AAC 8.. of 12.
ACC 9.. of 14
B10 9.. of 14
b12 4.. of 10
CUSA 5. of 14
Mac 8.. of 14
MWC 8.. of 12 ect. of course those with team in playoff actually could add a school and those who have a 5-7 could take one away.

Even more interesting is that conference send a ton of schools and the majority them lose.

Says the fan of a team that gave up 55 to a bad Purdue team who is 112th in yards per drive. LOL

The Big 12 has some teams that suck on defense (Texas Tech is the clear one) but OU, WVU, Baylor, and others have played solid defense over the course of the year when adjusted for number of possessions and offenses faced. OU held the Vols to 50% of the yards per drive than their average against SEC teams. WVU shut down Maryland to a pathetic 18 per drive which only Michigan in the B1G did better. BU, OU, and WVU held ISU to lower yards per drive than Iowa did. OU and WVU held Tech as well as LSU did and nobody did as poorly as Arky did against them per-drive. (60ypd)

It's a rough bowl season with some very tough draws (only ASU can be argued isn't legitimately tough) and especially with opposing offenses.

The only mediocre yards per drive offense the league drew was Az State- #57 nationally.

Any group of 6 teams from a single league is likely going to have bad stats going against the Clemson (#27), Ole Miss (#22), UNC (#10), Oregon(#13), Arkansas (#12), and LSU (#21) offenses. It's just a rough group overall.

Yards per drive stats listed here: http://www.adjustedstats.com/ratings-sta...ftotal.php

As far as Bowl W/L the Big 12 is at the record they were expected to be. OSU & Tech were expected to lose and lost. OU was favored but lost. Baylor was an underdog who won. Big 12 overall was predicted to go 2-5 against a very tough slate. Unlike the Big Ten we don't get bowl games against any teams like Central Michigan and only one opponent on the level of Duke or UCLA.

It's a real stretch to say Baylor played strong defense. I'm sorry but no they do not, adjusted for whatever or not.

Held OkSt to same YPD as Ole Miss did.
Held Tech to 68% of YPD that Arky gave up
Held ISU to lower YPD than Iowa

Defense isn't elite but it's certainly well above average.

You're stuck on last year's Baylor team. They are much better on D this year.

I see you hate all MWC teams since the regular season. You keep bashing them, but I kept telling you that they were stronger than what you think. They got much stronger at the end of the season, and they played their hearts out.

His point was that the PAC's wins were against New Mexico (G5), BYU (G5ish), USM (G5), Air Force (G5) and Iowa. They do have a chance to get a couple of wins over Big 12 teams later today. The SEC'S wins were all P5, except Memphis.

Just accidentally omitted them. His point (not mine) was that several of the PACs wins were against lower level competition. Adding Washington State's win over Miami doesn't change the fact that four of the wins were over G5s.

If anyone wants to think that playing 6-6 Kansas State, or a Memphis team with most of its coaching staff gone, is somehow "tougher" than playing, say, a 9-win BYU or USM team, well, that's not exactly objective thinking, is it.

New Mexico, Air Force, and so forth from the MWC are not teams to sleep on. Any of those teams could beat a P5 at any moment.

No I didn't. I just think you repeated a dumb cliche about fast paced offenses.

Come on. The MWC teams the PAC beat were ... soft.
