Stanford band taking heat again
The Stanford band made everybody furious at the Rose Bowl for the third time in four years

I get the college-kids-wild-oats thing and no one was physically hurt. However, if a student-athlete had done something comparable, they would have been suspended or possibly kicked off the team while college administrators waved their "Integrity of the University" banners.

RE: Stanford band taking heat again
They just think they're being clever. I went to the Stanford game this year and at halftime they went into some weird presidential debate between Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush. It was stupid and made no sense.

Who is the Director of Marching Band Operations? I believe a strict suspension of the program is in order because of multiple incidents.

It's Stanford's thing. Let it be. If you don't like it, then don't watch it. I think it's different and somewhat amusing.

I personally found it hilarious when they played the farmersonly.com jingle to the Iowa fans...

When ECU played Stanford in the Liberty Bowl, the bands theme was "East Carolina: The 51st State" I thought it was funny.

I mean, its a school that has a color and a tree with a different color as its mascots. What do you expect?

Its good that Stanford doesn't believe in the concept of microagressions.

What exactly do you think would warrant a suspension? Iowa fans were probably upset that Stanford was kicking their butts on the field. Lighten up, people.

Good luck with that. That group is 100% student-run, I believe. The university has given up trying to reign them in.

Exactly.

It's moderately clever, and beats the hell out of 90% of the other band half time shows.

The culture of "boo hoo hoo", someone may have gotten their feelings hurt is just beyond out of control.

We have the same problem with the Rice band the "MOB". I guess these smart nerdy kids have a thing for doing the unconventional. One time they pissed off the Aggie's so much back in the day a Corp member chased them with a sword.

People need a reason to be offended.

No, it was the whole town chasing the Rice band. They had to get a police escort out of College Station. They made fun of their dog or something like that.

I am not offended. I am just tired of their antics. I prefer the classic marching band. The Big 10 does a great job with those.

That type of band is just lame. Glad UVA ditched their version of that crap for a traditional marching band.
