If an athlete had done something comparable (I can't imagine what that would be) they would absolutely be disciplined. The band should be held to the same standard as the student-athlete.

I think you miss the point. What double standard? Even you acknowledge you can't imagine what that might be. Should they be disciplined because you don't like their act? Or because other people don't like their act?

This is a performance. If it's supposed to be funny, and you don't think they were funny, the way you "discipline" them is by not laughing.

Typical private school rich kid attitude. Make fun of the Iowa farmers then later that night feel smug while eating their veggie burger made with Iowa soybeans. Little snots haven't had to work a day in their life and wouldn't last six hours on the typical family farm.

As I was reminded- When ECU played Stanford in the Liberty Bowl, the band did a tribute to the 51st state while lining up in the shape of a cigarette.

Yeah, they should be like South Carolina farmers and get blacks to do their farming for them! See how stereotypes can swing both ways?

See how that works? People need thicker skin.

It was a cow. It didn't even really make a lot of sense. Most of the people that saw it did not even draw the immediate connection.

Funny thing though, I don't remember all that many black faces there with me at those many 0500 feedings growing up.

Now when we took in hay or butchered there usually was, but in return when they took in hay or butchered on their farm we were there helping them.

(Where's Waldo and/or Where in the World is Carmen San Diego would have also worked)

I agree. People need to chill out. It was a bad joke that really wasn't offensive at all. Why anyone cares is beyond me.

Funny thing, i don't see you making the huge technological advancements of silicon valley. I see you taking a lot of shots at those not from the south. Glass houses and all that jazz my friend.
