That would have been ugly.

Because they beat nortwestern.

In football.

Northwestern

Seriously?

Probably a good thing we didnt play ole miss either the way they are killing ok state

Oh wait

Don't you know, that Ole Miss win was a fluke, perfect storm etc.

We have no business competing with superior athletic SEC schools.

Good thing we aren't scheduling them as future opponents.

Fuente did what X/JUDAS/BENEDICT--did before the Missouri game. X was called out---and rightfully so---for such. They BOTH quit on the TEAM. Why was Fuente seemingly given a pass ? We know that he met with VT around the OLE PISS/ S. FLORIDA game------HOW COULD THAT EVER/EVEN HAPPEN. Why was Fuente---in the court of public opinion given a pass. Heck Fuente even left a Coach here that tried to recruit for VT (new Coach ran him off)====remember Judas delaying KY. announcement while he was trying to sway players to KY. Two peas in a pod.

another thing to consider.
Fuente was 'proud to bring his girls to Memphis' and 'I'll be here as long as you'll have me.'
Contrast that to him wanting to move to Blacksburg,Va 'for his girls and his family'.
Yeah I know all that talk was coachspeak...but he met with Bud Foster BEFORE the season was over. That isn't coachspeak...that is just being a bit dishonest.
He knew he was taking the Virginia Tech job.
I don't hold as much ill will towards Fuente though...because thus far there has been no proof that he has taken any Memphis recruits with him to VT...yet.

UTk will be REALLY good next year. Likely preseason Top 10.

Losses to OU, UF and Bama in which they led in the 4th quarter. All of which were pretty good teams.

Georgia also gave away a game to them...cannot claim the FL game as a win like they will without giving the Georgia game as a loss...

If FL gets any semblance of a QB...utk, which has improved from its seven year essential mediocre years, will still be behind Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU and Auburn at minimum.

And I would have had no issues playing them with fully engaged coach and team.

Dude, you are delusional. The Vols will be top 10 next year going into the season.

You wanna make a bet on how your Gators fare next year vs. the Vols?

Just stating an opinion based on my trip to Birmingham and after watching yesterday's Vol win. They are the best team in the state at this point of the season. We were up to the Houston game. It is what it is. Did you make the trip to B'ham?

UT-K fans trolling our forum illustrate how bothered they were last season by our high ranking. Most everyone already knew that they have talent due to several highly ranked recruiting classes. They will, indeed be generally competitive in the future - the only problem is that Butch Jones tends to look like a deer in headlights late in close games.

Small sample size is small.

What happens if Tennessee wins a few close games next year? The narrative will flip that Jones is a clutch, ballsy coach.

I don't give a solitary **** about a school that is farther away from Memphis than Tulsa is.

God forbid someone here has the audacity to talk about another football program.

I'm merely pointing out how inane media talking points are.

It was a different team after that as the focus was entirely different and our players picked up on it. We had a chance at a truly great season before our coach was poached.

I guess "if you cant beat em, buy em", is the big boys motto. Just the way it is, sad because we could have done something great this season. That possibility was traded for personal gain and business decisions by those who were our teams leaders.

It is a wonder any team outside those in collusion ever complete a great season, their coaches must have refused to discuss jobs mid season, unlike ours. At least we are not a coaching graveyard anymore.

Link?

Monumental like the way #4 Oklahoma and #2 Bama beat them?

Had Grier stayed at Florida, he would have been ineligible for the Tennessee game in 2016.
