Yesterday is exactly what Dan D'Antoni's system looks like when its run correctly. Press the ball up and down the court, cause havoc and turnovers and then score off of those turnovers in a pick'n'roll offense.

If we can just run it at 80% of what we did yesterday in conference play we should win our share of games.

Dan is a great coach and Marshall will be contending for a title by next year. The press is tough to sustain in CUSA. Though we may not be the best league we are one of the most physical.

I can't believe I'm going to post this due to how I know despise the man so.....

.....but Tyndall did that with much success at southern miss.....if you guys have a deep bench where 8/9 avg ~20 mins a game, it can be effective....

I haven't seen you guys play yet.....sounds like it's time to start paying attention...

Marshall has as much upside as any time in CUSA. They are scoring a TON of points and have played the toughest schedule thus far.

Not sure about that "toughest schedule"......Charlotte has played Syracuse, Michigan, Washington, Miami, Davidson and Georgetown already.

Statistically speaking it has been. Marshall's opponent's RPI average comes in at 144 and Charlotte's opponent's is 158.

Generally, I would agree with your argument but it doesn't ALWAYS hold water. Charlotte's schedule is tougher. No matter how die-hard and knowledgeable a fan you are, there is no way Marshall's schedule thus far was tougher than Charlottes. Charlotte played a couple TERRIBLE teams and quite a few really good ones. Marshall played a couple good teams and a bunch of middling ones. Thats why the numbers are where they are.

man, I'm with you that RPI is a horrible metric....but it's the metric that is used by many....

the RPI is only worth speaking about once the season is over.....a running tally is a pointless metric as an argument....

so, I guess I'm saying I agree that you disagree 03-wink however, my point was a bit different in scope.....but I get it ya, and it does apply

with our team the way it currently is, I haven't been paying attention.....now that football season is over, I will change focus on what is going on in hoops

RPI is not a perfect metric, however, there are many version of it out there that it can help paint a fairly accurate picture when you look at them all. PSCNiner is right in saying Charlotte has played better teams i.e. a tougher schedule. What I'm saying is statistically Marshall has played the best schedule top to bottom. Marshall hasn't played a single team below 300 in the RPI. They've played 2 top 15 RPI teams and 3 top 100. Conversely, Charlotte has played 2 sub 300 teams, 1 top 15, and 5 top 100. Marshall has the slight edge but they are REALLY close (144 vs 158).

you guys along with this board are my cliff notes.....I have some catching up to do to fully understand what is actually going on.....

like I said, your argument is the same with my distaste using RPI as an argument in the early going.....the weighting is not sound until the season nears a close.....everything else is bs until the last handful of weeks....

regardless, it works itself to something that is mostly acceptable in the end....

hoops has a couple of advantages over football.....fewer players on the floor coupled with saturated talent that is mostly mediocre gets weeded out over time and makes it easier to apply a metric that gains merit as games are played

but early on, RPI is as valuable as any preseason ranking......it's just bs and bias conjecture.....
