RE: OT Bama
You think we are joking about "best team money can buy". When you live here and your work leaves you in contact with high school coaches you get to see some of the dirty underbelly of college football. It's the old SWC here in Alabama all over again and to be honest it makes what SMU did look like child's play. I spent some time with a former Auburn Assistant at a hunting camp and he laid out how they pay guys under the table and told many stories of the bidding wars that go on.

A great example. Certain graduated Bama running back. Guy tells me yea Bamma paid him $150 K and we cant even turn them in because we gave him $50K.

Was also told the NCAA knows Auburn boosters paid off Cam and they cant do anything about it.

I even heard stories bout how certain Alabama HS coaches received money to build facilities from each SEC school here. I even have had some coaches approach me with hands out knowing I am a UAB guy and I told them hell no. We don't do that. We play by the rules. Go find an SEC guy.

Parents get SUVs, kids get used cars with a duffle bag full of who knows what. It's the wild wild west in the state of Alabama. Heck I have a friend who's kid was offered money to not to go to Troy and go to Georgia from a booster. There is no honor in the SEC. He didn't accept it BTW.

I'm sure it goes on at other parts of the country.

I don't get off on Semi-pro football so I wont watch a minute of it.

I don't know how you fix it. I really don't. Until the fans themselves get fed up I guess it will only get worse. Right now the NCAA is too afraid to do anything to their cash cows.

The last time Bama went on probating they sued everyone and it scared the hell out of the NCAA.

I don't know that I fully believed the stories until I had to fight these bastards for #FreeUAB in our behind-the-curtain brawl. It wasn't that they fought dirty - I expected that and wasn't disappointed - but how blatant and entitled their side was about throwing around money and threats. They truly did not give a **** about any consequences - and in this state, they're probably right.

I won't be cheering for any Tide opponents; I'm thoroughly disgusted that a criminally corrupt organization is allowed to participate in college sports at all. Enjoying a loss by them acknowledges their right to participate, and I reject that notion.

RE: OT Bama
Yea, they did fight dirty and spent a ton of blood money fighting Jacks bills and trying to keep UAB football dead. A lot of good people employed at UAB lost their jobs in the collateral damage and people outside the University have been threatened with their jobs. I know one that has obtained a lawyer and plans to fight back. Another who was critical in our fight was attacked by their attorneys and told if he continued to help #FreeUAB they would sue him for everything his family was worth.

I don't think people fully comprehend how dirty this state is. It starts at the top with a Governor that was bought by Bryant Jr and trickles down from there.

I retained counsel before doing anything else.

I think some folks confuse Alabama's corruption with the plain old greed seen in other states. We have that too, but this goes deeper and much stranger, into a pathological obsession with bammer fooobaw that's way more important to them than lining their own pockets. They're not just corrupt, they're also insane.

We have that two in Lose E Anna! I loathe to hear these Walmart fans down here ask me why the hell don't I root for LSPoo. Then when you get a good look at the Secondary Education budget, it is like reading a death sentence its so sad.

I've long been sure that if the Aztec god Huitzilopochtli revealed himself to Man and guaranteed a national championship for bammer fooobaw for 10,000 willing human sacrifices, the only holdup would be some insisting that Nick cut out their beating hearts himself.

Interesting article from CBSSports on Alabama-Tuscalossa's number of national championships:

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball...y-counting

a few of my favorite lines from article:

Alabama claims a “college football-best” 15 national championships. Three of them aren't recognized by the NCAA

Notre Dame claims 11 national titles but could add 10 more if it used Alabama's math.

Atechson defended the 1941 inclusion for years, arguing the Mississippi State loss came in the rain, the Vanderbilt defeat was close

we are next door and you're right.....we don't know first hand.....

I am as disgusted as anyone, but we really don't understand that blood flow......

it's amazing that it's allowed to happen and continue......and it would be exponentially worse in distaste if I was a resident (as a champion of fairness)

it really is criminal how this has played out......

No one even notices the plain old corruption here anymore. Strange but true:

a. Last fall, the 72-year-old governor was divorced by his wife, after he had an affair (or at least wished he had an affair) with his decades-younger and kinda hot "political advisor."

b. In said divorce, he lost his beach house.

c. But wait - Alabama owns a beach house for the gov's use, donated some years back.

d. Oh no - it was smashed in 1997 by Hurricane Danny and has been an abandoned wreck since.

e. But wait - Alabama just got $85 million from BP to rebuild state facilities damaged by the oil spill.

f. So yes, the guv is building a new lovenest with BP settlement money, but he says that's okay because those aren't "tax dollars."

a buddy just left my house that works in mobile.....he talked about your governor

I challenged him to do the due relative to the UAB situation during his lull times at work and piece things together.....

the more I read about you guys that are in know, the more disgusted I become with every read....

how the feds haven't stepped in is amazing to me....what is even more disturbing is the gp doesn't give a rat's ass anymore about corruption at various levels of gubberment but will riot b/c some dipshite got shot.....

the media has lost their collective minds.....and as the media goes, so does the gp.....

fk'n simple lab mice is all most are now......I sometimes have to pinch myself and pine how quickly it has all happened in scope....it's scarily sad in my book...

We've actually had good media coverage - some of us worked damned hard to make it so. But many just don't care, if it's wrapped in crimson and hollers "Roll Tide!"

The usual procedure is to give a potential whistleblower a huge severance package coupled with a harshly punitive NDA. How it can even be legal for public institutions to issue blanket non-disclosure agreements boggles the mind.

Given the ones they claim, the next time Golf Digest names a national champion the only word out of their pieholes should be "Congratulations."

as an almost lifetime golfer, and you butchered the impact of GD, I discount that, read, flush, and just laugh that I heard "piehole" today.......

I needed that laugh..... 03-wink
