Very true; as the HC Carey is ultimately responsible. Hence the reason I hope Carey and Frazier agreed on Cole going, and better yet it was Carey that pulled the trigger.

Because the MAC is godawful.

I wouldn't be shocked if Carey took over play calling duties. If he's on the hot seat (I think it would be safe to venture a guess that his seat is at least warm) he might want as much control over his own fate as possible. I know an OC would still have to be hired but it might make the hire-from-within approach easier if Carey calls the plays. How common is it in college that a HC calls plays? I can only think of a few off the top of my head.

Exactly. And NIU is a MAC team. Maybe the best MAC team, but none the less a MAC team. One built to compete in the MAC, recruit in the MAC and ultimately win in the MAC. Every time NIU steps out of the MAC, they get their doors blown off.

They have some nice wins vs the Big Ten, albeit the bad teams in the big ten. Any time they step out and play a quality OOC opponent, yes, they lose.

No doubt NIU has owned the Big 10 as of late which is good to stack up favorably in that respect. I think NIU will start winning even more out of conference games now that many of them are going to be in DeKalb. Going on the road and trying to win is a difficult thing.

Let's not go overboard with phrases like "owning te Big 10" and "the bad teams in the big ten" or else you're downgrading the value of some well-earned and hard-fought victories. We beat a decent Northwestern team at their place, we also beat a good Iowa team that clearly improved enough as a program to play for the league title. I'll grant you Purdue sucks, but four wins doesn't constitute "owning" anything.

See they work when you have multiple other plays that open the field. Cole would run them after they just handed the ball off 3 straight time. They said Kiffin started using those mid year after speaking with Tom Herman.

I think it does, as least as of late, as in the past 6 to 8 years

So by your definition, CMU owns us?

The Huskies are 4-4 vs the Big10 since 2010. Those 4 wins are vs 3-9 Minn, 1-11 Purdue, 5-7 NW and the only quality win vs 8-5 Iowa who had QB Jake Ruddock starting his first game ever as well as it being the season opener.

I hope NIU plays and beats Vanderbilt and Kentucky soon so I can say NIU owns the SEC.

NIU just owns Alabama, sadly.
