Do we get to keep the field goal kicker?
We have a really good field goal kicker. (Aside from the block that occurred early which was the fault of our offensive line.) Glad we have him next year.

Wish Paxton would think about staying but if he isn't going to listen to the staff as someone indicated he gave the impression of today, then he wouldn't enjoy hanging around. I hope that's not true.

If he wants to stay and lead us on to some more wins next year in case it would help him go higher in the pros than he will go this year, he would be a great thing for us, but he'll need to work with the new staff like he worked with Justin. Meantime Paxton can obviously go to the pros but maybe he'd do better in how high he goes in the draft with another year here. We'd certainly benefit from his being here. I imagine he's headed on though. Maybe he'd have another chance for a Heisman trophy next year if he stayed? We would have to recruit really well and come out as strong next year as this year.

Paxton's draft stock will not go up next year but it could go down.

Paxton is gone. He would be foolish to stay. This game did not hurt his draft stock. It showed what a good coach and play caller Fuente was.

Heisman or Millions is not a hard choice as far as the kicker I can't recall one ever leaving early.

Fuente didn't call the plays this year. Problem is, he took the guy that did with him to VT.

Because it never happens. Even the best kickers are lucky to get drafted at all.

Exactly, Cornelson called the plays from the booth. We saw Dickey as Dickey has been since NTX, very conservative, lot of throws to the sidelines. Not what we saw under JF or what we will see under MN. Too bad that yesterday Lynch was off his game, disinterested & hampered by a very unimaginative game plan.

Who called the plays in the Temple game?

we return a an amazing kicker...a stable of running backs...solid receivers in Miller, Proctor, and Mayhue...plus, a 'do everything athlete' in Sam Craft.

we just need Brady Davis to be as good as advertised...Fuente picked him out, right?

JF & the offensive staff put together a game plan for each game that attempts to exploit the defense. But game situations dictate the actual plays called & that has been Cornelson's responsibility all year (of course JF had final say). Doesn't take much imagination to understand the lack of imagination in the offense post 3 qtr of the Houston game....

I'm not so sure Brady Davis will be the QB next year. He is a talented player who has never taken a snap in a college game and Norvelle signed a highly rated Juco who will be here in the spring. Riley was immature and blew his first shot at Big time football. He will be a force for his second shot.

As for the others we have a long way to go to compete for the AAC crown. We lost 4 of 5 when the competition got better and mattered. Our receivers could not get open or hold blocks vs an average SEC team yesterday. We lost the trench war and our skill players did nothing spectacular outside of two drives. Norvelle has his work cut out for him to take us to the next level. It will be fun to watch.

I'm just hoping for 6-7 wins and a bowl game...I don't think it's the type of team that could expect "to compete for the AAC crown"

again, look at the schedule...I want to beat SEMO, SMU, Tulane, Tulsa, BGSU type teams...I'm not worried about SEC teams.

Agree.

We will have a lot of players returning...and a more seasoned overall defense.

Some adjustments to a new staff, and of course, new QB, but would be surprised if team is not competitive again. Whether they get the breaks needed to start 8-0 is unlikely, but at the same time, whether they suffer the breaks experienced to finish 1-5, also unlikely.

Because of the new coaching staff....would expect a bit of a drop off, but still a winning team.
