FWIW, I think C-USA & the SBC should agree to ban FCS games & partner with one another for first game of the season challenges instead.

An out-of-the-gate MT game with ULL, Arkansas St, AppState, or GaSo would be a whole lot more fun to watch than another Savanna State beat-down.

What bothers me now is that I have been told that Memphis will not consider scheduling a football game with USM again under any circumstances. Same with ECU, UCF, USF, Tulane and Houston. Expected it from some of those, but not Memphis and ECU.

We should be playing our long-time brothers in Hattiesburg.

We also shouldn't have players running around stealing game balls. He is off the team. That may seem minor since he is a senior; but it prevents him from using training facilities and participating in pro-day which he could have benefited from.

Best wishes to all of our long time conference partners, especially USM and UTEP. Both programs are full of great fans and Herd fans are some of the best fans to ever visit our stadium.

EIG, Stinkfist, etc....all great folks.

USM and Memphis share the distinction of playing each other twice in '64 because as southern independents who were (then) successful, we couldn't fill out a complete schedule......no one wanted to lose to either of us southern outlaw programs.

cheers.........

always kind words from ya pal....nice caveat about the double dip the year before I was born....damn, I still remember many years only having 3 home games at the Rock when both of our schools were indy....and no, it doesn't seem like yesterday 03-wink

and you're damn right we should be playing each other....the fact we cannot based on 'circumstances' is unnerving from where my chair is located....I honestly do not understand why MEM and ECU would not want to continue playing southern miss every year in alternating fashion (play MEM one year, ECU next year, etc.....) at a minimum....

in my mind, it's the perfect ooc game for all of us......and both MEM and ECU would only have to do it twice every four years for whatever reason that matters in y'all's world.....I only see this as an ooc g5 scheduling slam dunk in my brain....maybe mine is just empty at this point as the business of college football evolves.....

all that being said, good luck to you guys next season! you know I've always pulled for MEM to get back in the saddle of respect on the field of pigskin....and the same goes for the pirates as we all move forward in time....

I'm chompin' at the bit as I wait to watch our team develop throughout '16.....high hopes and the merry-O I do have 03-wink

always good to hear from you OT.....

Ditto on everything you've said, stinkfist.

Best of everything to you personally and the Golden Eagles for 2016 and beyond.

I don't know who told you that, but I've never heard it.

Still, whatever the motivation, Memphis has now scheduled h-h games with Ga.St., ULM, and Southern Alabama, I assume for recruiting purposes. If that's the case, I guess Memphis feels it already has enough recruiting presence in Mississippi.

No, do you realize how much those SBC fans bragged about that whooping App put on our conference mates in Norfolk. Until Tech put the beat down on their Champs.
Not worth the risk of our lower football programs embarrassing the conference like that
