LSU 8-3 vs. 7-5 TT the 2nd to worst defense in the country.
Auburn 6-6 vs. Memphis 9-3 without a coach.
MSU 8-4 vs. a 7-5 ACC school.

SEC had really good matchups and haven't really shown anything yet except they can take advantage of those. Michigan St. is the best possible Alabama matchup. SEC West also has
A&M 8-4 vs. a 7-5 ACC school
Ole Miss 9-3 vs. Okie St. 10-2 with a couple of gift wins from referees
Arkansas 7-5 vs. KSU 6-6

So it really doesn't tell us much about them either way.

I agree with all of this. The SEC was blessed mightily with who they drew as opponents, almost as if it was intentional. hmmmm?

Right, and if one of those teams had lost, everyone would be saying how overrated the SEC WEST is....

03-lmfao Auburn played this game without their defensive coordinator and with a Graduate Assistant coaching their secondary and yet totally squashed Memphis's star NFL-bound QB, crushed Paxton like a bug.

Sorry, no excuses for Memphis here. 07-coffee3

Agree Vodka. The SEC West can't control who they play but they still have to go out and win the games. Remember all the issues the B1G had in the not so distant past to win bowl games overall? In terms of matchups, when 10 total SEC teams qualify for bowl games including all in the SEC West, there are only so many "equal" teams that they can play. That is why the SEC is still the best football conference top to bottom IMHO. Let's be honest, bowl matchups have a lot more to do with travel proximity and TV ratings more than anything else.

It's looking good and I'm happy with what I see. But, if UA gets murked by Michigan State I have a feeling people won't be talking about how strong the West is.

IDK. If, and I do mean IF, Bama loses to Michigan State I don't think it is the same perception as it would have been a few years back since the B1G has made strides in competitiveness overall. That perception was helped when Ohio State won the NC last year. Michigan State is a respected, well coached, tough team for anyone to beat. However, Saban has the Crimson Tide on a roll (pardon the pun) and after losing to Ohio State last year I think they have the focus and motivation this year to at least advance to the NC. An Alabama loss won't take away from the powerful SEC West IMHO. I should add that my wife is an Auburn graduate so I'm a bit biased toward the SEC besides my Bearcats.

Paxton couldn't hit the side of a barn. He showed that he was missing Fuentes. Teams without head coaches almost always do poorly.

Remember last year? The SEC west top leaders got crushed while Arkansas and Texas A&M won their bowl games, while the east won theirs. Alabama got rolled over in their playoff game.

Well, you saw a different game than I did because I saw a 1TD difference. 07-coffee3

Yes, UA played OSU closer than Oregon did.

Any conference can have a down year in bowl games. I'll bet the SEC West's bowl record over the last 10 seasons is pretty damn good. Just sayin'.

Last year, the SEC west was 2-5 in bowl games while the east was 4-1, or something like that.
