As bad as I don't like it they are within their rights to issue tickets. I hate it. It sucks but that's the law. It would be nice if UAB provided additional parking and provided a shuttle cart like some hospitals do. It would help in promoting fan base growth.

RE: Stephen F. Austin Game Thread
When the City of Birmingham Parking Authority comes to UAB campus at Four O'clock in the afternoon, knowing darn well that school is not in session and there is a rare afternoon game that starts at 2:30 PM and writes hundreds of parking tickets, THAT PISSES ME OFF!

A bad call by the parking authority. They weren't doing UAB any favors. What were they thinking? Do you really think that anyone else was going to park in any of those occupied parking spaces, besides game goers, that late in the afternoon? NO! DUH! Just doing their jobs? They took it a step too far. The Mayor will hear about the meter checkers "taking advantage" of game goers, that's for sure, and he will not be pleased. You will see.

An AD who actually thought about fan relations would be offering to either pay those tickets, or offer something in exchange (tickets-for-tickets).

Agree. That could only have been deliberate.

I call them meter maids. I like the alliteration.

Attendance is a problem, but the administration makes it very difficult when there is no parking provided for the average fan.

There's a 6 story deck literally across the street from the Ullman lot. Come over the bridge and you don't even have to cross University on foot. I park here every game with no problem and there's plenty of room.

If I were AD I would give everyone who received a ticket two tickets to the next home game but that's me. I'm not AD.

I would also provide off site parking and shuttle service and advertise it. Heck charge five dollars if you have to. It would be well worth it.

Don't you have to be a student to park there?

Parking ticket: $15
GA men's basketball ticket: $15

Perfect.

It's the same lot designation as the Ullman lot so it's available for bball parking.

RE: Stephen F. Austin Game Thread
A lot of people still call them meter maids. MB is being a troll as usual and shows no care for the plight of the average UAB fan. I do agree this shouldn't have been an issue, as there are multiple lots, including a giant parking garage as another poster mentioned, within 1-2 blocks of the arena. I do agree it'd be a nice gesture, no matter the party at fault or the legality of the tickets, to pay for the tickets or give free tickets to another game for folks that got ticketed during the game. Give tickets to the UTSA game out. I'm sure we will need butts in seats for that game. They are god awful.

This just goes along with the pretty poor game day experience that UAB provides for its fans. No marketing or advertising, no fun giveaways, lack of good parking or clearly marked lots, no shuttle service, and now - fans get ticketed for parking on the street. Haase is right in that we need to have better attendance, but UAB needs to do its part to provide a fun, exciting, and inviting game day experience.

it was a pretty typical MB comment, but lets be honest...if anybody else had said it, you wouldn't feel the need to comment on it.

What trolling? MB was right. Park at a meter that expires, you just might get a ticket.

Dumb? Sure. Petty? Absolutely. A practical reality? Afraid so.

For those who decided to take this opportunity to trash me and call me names, I suggest you take it up in PM as Attalla has directed. I will ignore them, but maybe you will feel better.

Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed the game. Sat behind the visitors bench and enjoyed the heckling our fans were giving the SFA coach.

Don't park illegally and you won't get a ticket. It's not rocket surgery

And it's not UAB's fault or problem to solve.

It was a great game. Very intense. That last foul on Robert, and then Norton's 3 were crazy time.

I parked a couple of streets over from my normal spot due to it being used during the day.

I parked in the Ullman lot, aware that I might get a ticket. I didn't, and I'm glad, but it would have been nobody's fault but mine if I had.
