I'm sick of being a Cincinnati sports fan. My pecking order...Bengals, BCAT football, BCAT basketball, Reds. None of these teams can win a big game. Outside of the first game of NCAA tourney last year, I can't remember the last time we won a big game. Exhausting. Is there a curse on this City's sports team? Just finished watching Bengals implode if you couldn't tell already.

When folks I meet out in the hinterlands find out that I'm from Cincinnati, some are inclined to ask the origins of the name. "Is it an old Indian word," they ask?
"No, it's derived from a Latin word meaning disappointing sports," I reply.

I work with a guy who's favorite teams are the Yankees, Steelers, UK basketball, and Ohio State football. He literally acts like he is a die hard for each team and will even go to their games sometimes and wear shirts.
I never asked him why he is a fan of each team, but I have to assume he chose them because they traditionally win alot. I'm sure he doesn't have the stress level I have with my teams, but I couldn't imagine life without them. What fun would that be?

I was in middle school when the city went to the Super Bowl, won the World Series, and went to the Final Four within 4 years. I thought that was normal.

At least the Bengals made it close last night in a big game. We got blown out 41-7 in our big game.

If we are being honest, this is one of the reasons why there are so many Piitsburg Steeler, Ohio State and UK fans in Greater Cincinnati. Those teams win on the big stage. The Cleveland are had the same issue.
Nonetheless, I will stay loyal to my teams in the end.

Add in being a Browns, Indians and Cavs fan too. Bearcats come first, but I root for the Reds and the Bengals (Since I have now lived in Cincy over half my life). Lots of nut punches in my life. The only championship I can semi-claim in the 90 Reds, but I still lived in Canton at that point and while I liked the Reds back then, they took a big time backseat to the Indians (Which now they are pretty close) so I really don't claim it. The only really Championships have come from the UC Dance team and I'm guessing those don't count.

I was another kid that thought Final Fours, Super Bowls, and World Series was the norm for Cincinnati sports team back in the late 80's and early 90's. At least it wasn't a playoff game for the Bengals or for UC basketball last week an NCAA tournament game. Would rather lose a heartbreaker in the regular season than in the postseason. Too bad we have seen too many of those too.

When I meet people in other environs and I tell them I am from Cincinnati, eyes glaze over, and the subject is invariably changed to the best baits for Asian carp.
I did get a, "How are the Florence Freedoms doing this year?". I had no answer, and and he was kind enough to change the subject to the best baits for Asian carp.
