RE: Gran to UK per Rivals
Gran did an average job here. The first season's offense was awful until they made adjustments. Last year was by far their best season considering the injury issues they had on that side of the ball. This year the team had the numbers but the offense couldn't get it done when it mattered outside of the ECU game. Way too many turnovers from the QB position and a lack of creative in the running game and short passing game were the biggest issues.

Overall I never felt the offense played smart and controlled the game they way they should have with their talent.

My main concern at this point is who will be the replacement? A graduate assistant?

UC football is in serious trouble right now.

Yup... it isn't going to hurt recruiting at this point. We may as well cut bait now and try to start over before all the LOIs are signed so we can pick off a few MAC targets.

I would assume they elevate Hinshaw (which is what they should do IMO), but there is always the chance he leaves too.

I saw on a UK site that Hinshaw is going to Lexington as well.

No. The guy who played the biggest role in getting Gunner here is probably taking over as OC.

I'm assuming we could offer a MAC or CUSA OC a substantial raise. Interview the WKU OC. Or just take the whole staff.

Simply the time to start over. Go get Brohm and his staff. Go take
schiano from OSU.

Whomever Tubs hires will be underwhelming. UC will lose more recruits.

Who is convincing Bohn this isn't a dumpster fire?

I think Gran is pretty damn smart to get away while he can. He's bailing on the SS Tuberville Titanic and I don't blame him one bit. Say what you want about the offense's stats this year. Hell of a lot better than the defense and special teams that's for sure. Who knows what is going on in TT's headset during games or within the locker room or within the coaches meetings that also impacts Gran's decision to leave. Reason #37 to can Tubs now. We are wasting our future away the longer the Rubberboat Rafter stays.

Hinshaw is a pretty good coach. The Buckeyes would have won the NC with him. I'm sure OSU would do a Walt Jocketty style trade: Tim Beck for Hinshaw.

RE: Gran to UK per Rivals
Not too devastated by this... Gran was a very good recruiter but beyond that he was a running backs coach who could not figure out how to use RDA4 or when to use M. Boone. This year he had the talent at WR to be in the nation's scariest offense but was not.

I am not a Tubberville fan at this point, but I am not sure what to do about it yet. Still Gran was never going to be part of a solution.

(first time post... long time lurker... got to join the conversation some time)

I also cannot understand Bohns thinking. Many of us on here have been able to identify serious issues with the team. Most of these issues are consistent with problems in his last employ. The SS tommy t has sailed, we got burnt on an experienced coach. We have had a legacy with young coaches of late. Lets get back to what we are good at. Hire Brohm now for cheap and a 2 million dollar option for later.

Wish TT would realize its time to be a TV guy. Gran was his guy. He has to know recruiting for him will take a hit. Just retire.

Anyone we hire while Tubs is still cross armed on the sideline is merely a place holder, so I wouldn't expect our search to go very far. Once we drop him off at the old folks home with promises to visit every weekend, the new coach will clean house and bring in his staff.

RE: Gran to UK per Rivals
More and more news outlets reporting Hinshaw is expected to head to Lexington with Gran. If that happens, you've got to start wondering if Gunner goes with them as the Wildcats only have one scholarship quarterback on their roster and he was the third stringer to start this past season.

Not worried about recruiting. 9th rated recruiting class in the AAC.
