No cause of death has been released as yet. The half court hook shot, wonder what his shot % was?

Meadowlark had an office in Arlington, TX around 1990. It was down the hall from my agency. He and his son worked there and we had several discussions but never ended up doing a contract. Nice guy. Frankly, it had been so long I don't remember exactly what kind of business they were in.

Probably managing his own team, Meadowlark Lemon's Harlem All-Stars which he formed in 1988. He played in over 16,000 games during his career.

Was the face of the Harlem Globetrotters, will Curly Neal. Fond memories watching them edge out the Washington Generals several times from my childhood..

I was too young to remember Goose Tatum, so I always considered Meadowlark as the clown prince.

ABC televised a game at the Coliseum. Howard Cosell was an announcer. It was tape delayed so i don't know how many times it took but he hit the shot.

He was a great one.

We have had many great Tigers go on to be Harlem Globetrotters.

I first saw him play at the MSC around '72 or '73. He was a great shooter and an even better entertainer and great ambassador for the game.

According to his Website he was born as Meadow Lemon III, his father was Meadow Lemon Jr. and his Grandfather was the original Meadow Lemon. He later legally changed his name to Meadowlark (no quotation marks). He does have a son named George but it appears he was never named George.

I saw them five or six times, and I don't think it ever took him more than three tries to hit that shot.

Do a little more research besides his official website. He was named George Meadow Lemon III at birth. He is also reported to be born in North Carolina, but records show he was born in South Carolina, and later his family moved to Wilmington. Wilt Chamberlain was asked who is the best BB player he ever saw, he said it was Meadowlark. Not Jordan or Bird.
