Photos of new Soccer/Track and Moody Center construction
Today after church I stopped to take some pictures of the construction going up on the Athletics side of campus: the new soccer/track stadium and the Moody Center for the Arts. As lagniappe, Rice's Solar Decathlon project also seems to be in the area. You can see the pictures at this link (you don't need to be a Facebook subscriber):

Enjoy!

Thanks, George! Nice photos. They are sure taking their time with that soccer/track construction, but hopefully it will be good when it's done.

Update: I stopped by today to how things are going, and it'll almost done! Both head track coaches said they expect to be using the new locker rooms in February, and certainly before the outdoor season starts. Here are my photos (you don't have to be a Facebook subscriber to see the album):

Appreciate the photos, George. Pretty disappointed in how this was done. Very inadequate stands for the Lopez meet if past crowds are anything to go by.

I thought that building won't actually have lockers which is why they are planning project on the back of Tudor (mentioned in JKs podcast).

Here's the photo from George's Facebook page, captioned "The locker room building for the track and soccer teams":

Is this the same as -- or in addition to -- the new "back of Tudor" facilities that JK mentioned in his podcast?

"The teams’ building will include meeting rooms, a weight room and space for visiting teams, in addition to restrooms for fans."

Nothing about locker rooms in the press release.

I think Karlgaard said in the podcast that the next major capital project is to renovate a space at the back end of Tudor for locker rooms for a few of the sports that don't have one yet. I know golf was one, and I want to say soccer and track were mentioned as well. I imagine that this was already in the original plans for the renovation that started in 2008 but was split apart to make phase I funding quicker to meet. I'd be surprised and, frankly, disappointed to hear otherwise.

"Back end of Tudor" probably means "where the old pool is".

Nice angle of the track stadium and campus showing skyline of downtown Houston in background. Don't get to see this perspective that much.
