RE: Poinsettia Bowl: Final Thoughts
Note to Coach Carey---come home, destroy the game tape---with the exception of the LAST 9:05. As much as the first 51 minutes were a clinic...please watch how a team manages the clock with lead (albiet 48 points). Nine minutes, THIRTEEN PLAYS----that is over 41 seconds per play. Please watch it over and over again because I do have faith that we will have leads in many, many games next year.

Quote:Picked up the car at the dealer service shop after the game. Walked in with my NIU jacket and hat. Guy literally laughed and said "you got shellacked."

Wow. Just wow. I would have laughed back and said, "No man, no. I shellacked Her. Your wife was NIU, I went Boise on her."

RE: Poinsettia Bowl: Final Thoughts
While this game was beyond embarrassing I will continue to support the Huskies and hope for the best. It is not nearly as bad as losing 30+ games in a row back in the mid to late 90's. It's hard to believe after tonight but NIU should do pretty well again next year, assuming Hare is back and healthy and Huff does whatever he needs to do to get on and stay on the field. Sure, there are plenty of question marks but the schedule should be relatively easy.

For all those calling for coaches to be fired, I wouldn't hold your breath. People don't lose their jobs after going to the conference championship with their 4th string QB. I'm not saying I think Cole is a good coach, I just don't think there is much chance he will lose his job. There is zero chance Carey is fired, and there shouldn't be. Again, I'm not saying he is perfect and even have some doubts how good of a coach he is, but three straight conference championship games doesn't get a coach fired. Yes, he was handed a very good team, but there are plenty of people who have done much worse with better teams. That doesn't mean I think he is a great coach or deserves praise, but there is no way he loses his job.

Next year will tell a lot for Carey. He'll have basically just his own recruits. And it's unlikely we get back to the conference championship game if they play like they did this past year.

I agree with you regarding Carey's job. However, our team was completely unprepared tonight. I don't think Frazier will forget this night if we continue to slide next year.

Yes, if the team takes a step backward next year with the easy schedule they have then something may happen. As awful as tonight's game was Carey has too much equity built up to get fired now, probably the same for Cole (although I tend to agree that guy seems like he is a problem).

This game set records for one of the worst performances in bowl history. Not the side of history we want to be on.
