You know, I recall in 8th grade history class... although that was some 35 years ago???... learning that when, in times past, jobs were scarce in a region, people would do this weird thing where they would - move - to where people were hiring. I know it is tougher now to pick up and move a household than it was back in the 30s and 40s, what with trucks being harder to come by, and the interstate system making interstate travel more cumbersome and slower, and now they need to "see your papers" at the state lines and all, but....

Why, when They can live in that house payment free for two years without being evicted by going to legal aid and getting the foreclosure blocked. They can then apply to get an apartment with government assistance paying what They can afford based on their pay. Lotsa folks do just that.
