From DNP to Starter in 2 games
I am curious what changed with this team that caused Martin to go from a DNP to starter in 2 games.

If you are talking Martin he was injured plus the other options were not working. Martin gives effort so he got his shot.

choices were either Burrell or Martin. I guess he thought defensive intensity would energize the starting five.

Glad to see it. I've been high on JM since I saw him vs. LOC

I really like Martin on defense. I don't think I saw him go under any screens and he stayed with his man. Hopefully he works the funk out of his jumper... very odd form.

I agree with this...Martin works hard going through screens...it seems that guys at times switch too easily.

Maybe it's just me but every lefty looks awkward to me, no matter how many shots they make.

That depends entirely on intent. Some coaches teach switching on most every screen, some teach going through screens. Not sure about our team. When JP started as our HC, he wanted guys to fight through every screen. In the last couple of years, he used switching heavily, especially at the top of the key. Just not sure his plan has been this year, seems inconsistently ineffective at times attempting to do both.

Spent so much time looking for something to complain about that you haven't been keeping up with player injuries.

All it was about was the first few minutes, and during that time I'd rather see Martin help lock down their best shooter than see Woodson jack up some threes. I don't know, seems like a good move to me, but it's hard to tell against a bad team having a bad shooting night. We'll see if it works twice in a row.

even though he is our best 3 point shooter

Yep, which:

1) Ain't saying much.
2) He routinely gives up more points than he scores.
3) Let me know when he hits a big one against a good team in a game the Tigers win.

Lol, we’re gonna get our tail-feathers smoked in a few weeks in conference with another 3 guard lineup. Time to hide the women & children.

Better get the hard liquor out & ready too. 03-wink

Basketball doesn't have a defensive team that comes in to replace the offense. Martin has to be able to knock down shots and like some other Tigers needs to look to pass over drinbling. Burrell's rebounding makes his place on the floor more valuable.

Martin will be a fine player in a few years but he probably shouldn't be starting on a team that has postseason aspirations.

Or to put in another way, if he is the best option as a starter, this team is likely not postseason bound.

He needs to change the way he holds the ball when he shoots. Too much sidespin. It amazes me how a guard can have such poor fundamentals. And how no coach of his coming up never noticed it.
