FAU stadium
For those of us at the game. How about your thoughts on stadium

I think they have ALOT of nice features to upgrade the fan experience

Got to figure out how to get a Hyundai Party Deck in the Glass Bowl

I agree. Especially if can give fans an opportunity to get out of the rain or cold. We did the Deck prior to K/O and at halftime I went to the Subway at the South End Zone- picked up 2 subs, pizza, a couple of drinks which ran $30- pretty reasonable. Got to say that amount rain was not expected. The family was totally soaked, but didn't get too cold because of the temp. It was a great night in spite of the rain. Hope Rocket fans had a great time.

The party deck was fantastic and is quickly becoming a part of many stadiums across the country. Something similar to this at the Glass Bowl would be fantastic and probably attract more fans, even the more casual fans we hope to attract.

RE: FAU stadium
Stadium is very nice. Molded seats were unexpected. While the Hyundai Party Deck is a nice feature, it makes getting to the middle of the five sections above it rather difficult. Also aluminum bleachers with large amounts of rain and people wearing flip flops/sandals makes for a very dangerous situation. Saw one women fall extremely hard, and heard about a couple of others, they should probably look into doing something to make it more safe, or hope they have a good insurance policy.

Noted that they also use CSC, saw one employee harassing Temple fans. Then as we were checking out souveniers after the game, had some CSC employee strongly suggest that we should be leaving the stadium.

All in all, pretty impressive, nice large concourses, and you cant go wrong with palm trees right inside the entrances. They also had a nice set up outside of the stadium as well.

Party deck was something I posted in my wish list when the Larimer renovations were announced. Sadly, not part of the plan. I suppose top of the towers would be options, ala the nest at the Mud Hens.

Very nice new stadium with actually seats, not benches and a very clean, attractive appearance. The design is such that it looks much bigger than its 29,000 capacity. They could (at a very small expense) do a better job of posting section numbers more prominently both at the gates entering the stadium and at the entrances to the sections from the corridors.

Agree with all the comments above. It was a very nice stadium. I liked the video board (although they never show replays I want to actually see) and the palm trees in the corners of the open end of the stadium. Seats had plenty of leg room, which was awesome. I found during the rain the best spot was at the top of the home stands against the press box. Nice convenient parking...easy to get in and out.

It was awesome! Loved the party deck. UT should scrap their east side renovation, and make a new renovation with a party deck on the east side. I also liked their Subway. It looked like it had an actual seating area inside, with TVs.

The Subway has actual inside seating with the flat screens. It has the outside entrance next to The Owl Fan Store and is used by students on a daily basis.

We could easily add a party deck on the south side behind the student section above the wall. That would make it a pretty loud area for opponents in that red zone.

Don't know how many got to see but there is a big club room for events right above the party deck. Wouldn't mind seeing that kind of set up in the GB. Hard to tell with all the rain, but the FAU field lighting is very good.

Even better! It is able to be used more than 6-10 times per year.

Back on the Rocket Hall to Alumni Center conversion thread I think I proposed nearly exactly that. Probably also on the original Pavilion thread. It just make sense that not just better, but spectacular use could be made of that end-zone. It would have one of the better views in all college football!

Could have used the elevators in the stadium tower.

The stadium has large seats... At the big house, FAU's stadium would count as 40k... It's not a small venue. Larger than Waldo and UB by size... Obviously smaller by capacity for some reason. It's new and a good place to watch a game. I like our press boxes better and the stone look giving the GB character.

RE: FAU stadium
I agree with the comments here. I will add one slightly negative - the aluminum decking feels less substantial than concrete. I suppose if the cost savings allows us to renovate the eastside stands and maybe even do something with the south endzone, I can live with it. I've posted about putting a party deck on top of the tower in the NW end before EIB started posting and EIB having the same thought independently makes it a no-brainer, no? I think a party deck in that location is better because it's more like you're "at the game" than under the stands watching on tv.

RE: FAU stadium
The excess aluminum gives it a kind of high school feel. I'd rank it as okay, mainly because it's new, though as a bowl destination it's hard to top. It is very weird how you have to walk across many sections to get to an actual exit if you were seated in line with the center of the field. That includes having to go up and down a few stairs in between each section for reasons I couldn't figure out. Was pretty dangerous given the conditions in our game. Also during nearly every timeout were ridiculous promo's not unlike everything we see at the Glass Bowl. It was basically a home game in that regard, minus the rap & techno music between every play. Only ideas I'd 'steal' from this stadium is the party deck (which would work great on our south end of The GB, on top of the existing fort wall), and the palm trees, which, this year aside, would take some serious man-made weather engineering to keep alive all year.

RE: FAU stadium
If Put-in-Bay can have Christmas in July then the GB can have palm trees. I think they'd look good on the north side below the towers, maybe a couple on the south concourse.
