MBJ: Local hospital planning $275M project

"Methodist Healthcare announced today it is planning a $275 million investment into the Methodist University Hospital campus.

The Medical District project will include a 440,000-square-foot addition, upgrading services within the hospital, as well as state-of-the-art medical technology. Oncology, transplant and outpatient programs will move to a new centralized area, increasing efficiency for medical staff, patients and visitors. Methodist will also build a 700-space parking garage.

The plan will modernize the hospital, enhance the patient-and-family centered care experience and relocate services to improve patient flow.
“A new open campus with green space, updated buildings and state-of-the-art technology will provide an enhanced patient-and family-centered care environment,” said Liebman. “This master plan will help us better serve the community and push us further along our journey towards being one of the top academic hospitals in the country.”

I wonder if this $275 mill includes the recent Transplant clinic announcement (I believe it was >$40 mill), or if they are separate announcements. That they are moving transplant services to a new building suggests the $40+ mill is a part of it.
