Lembo leaving for Maryland
Bruce Feldman reporting he will be an assistant with DJ Jurkin's staff.

This doesn't say much for BSU but I'm ok with it. I think his recruiting weaknesses showed the last couple of years. Guess Brady Hoke is available.

RE: Lembo leaving for Maryland
I think he realized he was on the hot seat and that he wasn't likely to turn it around next season.

It also didn't hurt that there was a new AD and president in town.

Overall, I think this is a positive development for the program, which seemed to stagnate under Lembo the past couple of years.

I agree with that. I heard that he wasn't on everyone's Christmas card list either. Really left his staff in the lurch....

Replace "Lembo" with "Enos" and it sounds a lot like last year. Although at least Lembo didn't wait until the week before Signing Day.

"Lembo decided to make the move after dealing with frustration after years leading one of the most under-resourced programs in the MAC."

I had heard the lack of financial commitment to the program is a big part of the reason that Hoke left Ball State, as well. Given that he has an overall good record, I could see Lembo taking a break, earning more $, then possibly taking over somewhere else down the line.

RE: Lembo leaving for Maryland
It is my understanding that Hoke couldn't get enough money for his assistants at the time. I could be wrong but I also heard he ran into that same issue with the ECU opening.

Lembo's wins post-Keith Wenning:
EMU (2), Akron, UMASS, Central, VMI, Bowling Green and Colgate....

Never better than 7th in the MAC in defense and 10th this year.

I think it was frustrating for Lembo...even when winning they couldn't get fans to come out....BSU has done a lot of improvements to the stadium the last few years......I assume the resourcing referenced was head coach salaries and budgets.

Rumor on the sbc board is that ga. st. coach Trent Miles may be interested. That might not be a bad hire.

P.S. The influential alums at BSU I know were not all the enamored with the last two years of Lembo's tenure...he won early with Brady's players mostly...not so much since.

He probably has connections in the area seeing as how he played/coached at Indiana State and was an assistant at NIU/Notre Dame. He'd be a solid hire imo, seeing as how he turned around ISU and GSU, both abysmal programs when he arrived. BSU is far from dire, so it would be interesting to see him work with something that isn't ground zero.

I can't argue with that. Much like Hoke having a great QB making him move up -- Lembo had a great QB, but after he left... to get things going consistently is harder out there, and he made the right decision. So did those who hired him.

Can Maryland hire coach Carey too???

Pretty please!!!

Lembo needs an assistant special teams coordinator. He can't be expected to do it all himself!

Miles is 7-30 overall & 5-18 in the Funbelt after 3 years in Atlanta. I believe I would give it awhile before I called it a turnaround. His best chance to escape from GSU is to get confused for Les Miles.

Niu might want to look at Trent Miles... Carey will be done soon.
