Even if we have great success for one or two years, that won't propel us into a great program. We must have a number of years of success to move into that Gonzaga type program, which we'd love to do. We have a Gonzaga arena. Now all we need is the team to match it. Hopefully this is the beginning of a new era that will continue indefinitely.04-cheers

Here's hoping Coach Beard is another Mark Few, and doesn't want to leave!

As I recall, isn't that literally true? Didn't one of our guys travel to Spokane to look at their place while we were planning ours?

Absolutely. Our former AD, maybe Chancellor Anderson and one or two architects traveled out to see Gonzaga's new arena, and we basically copied it. There's seats a few hundred more than ours, but they're very similar.

Well, that thing, at least, Peterson did right.

Yes. That and hiring Joe Foley are his big achievements.04-cheers

He obviously came up with some the donations to improve the baseball facility, and build the soccer and track complex. But, Foley has to be his big achievement that he accomplished on his own. The other things, arena, the baseball field, and the soccer-track complex couldn't have happened without the donations. As for the donations for the facilities, I don't know if he went to these people, or they came to him, but whatever, we got them. Therefore I give him some of the credit.

Peterson took credit for everything good, most of which he had little to do with, and created a lot of bad that he absolutely should take credit for. A donor (from Oklahoma I think and a father of one of our baseball players) made the donation that allowed the baseball improvements. The soccer field and track complex was made possible by a donation from the Coleman family. Those donations, along with the Jack Stephens donation for the basketball arena basically just fell into Peterson's lap. He was in the right place at the right time on all of those- just ask anybody who works out there. Basically Peterson's achievements boil down to hiring Coach Foley, but in some ways that just fell in his lap too!
