Yeah take all quick posts literally. And pick MSU as your example. The Spartans playing Pine Bluff and Maryland Eastern Shore is almost equivalent to NIU playing Roosevelt.

This is so wrong on many levels. Lets take a look for example on who these teams have played.
Ark-Pine Bluff (Division I)
Ok State
Mich State
Cincy
Nebraska
Virginia Tech
Iowa State
Texas Tech
Missouri
Maryland-Eastern Shore (Division I)
Kansas State
Missouri
Georgetown
Mich State
Maryland
Roosevelt (NAIA)
No names worth putting here since NIU and UIC are not in the same boat as the teams above. I will just post a link showing what this 6-8 NAIA team's schedule looks like.

To be fair, they had to play Madonna University, and I hear that team is quicker than a ray of light.

RE: Roosevelt @ NIU predictions
who THEY played is irrelevant...they LOST all those game because they were money games--it is how they support their programs--by going on the road as fodder for the big boys. There is no honor in getting your brains beat in 10 for cash....I think they call that the Washington Generals. No way to build a program. Those teams have no real history, and no present and no future scheduling like this..It is to support the athletic teams, not to be competitive.

RE: Roosevelt @ NIU predictions
This year it is really hitting me the extent of the lack of commitment to NIU basketball shown by the athletic department. I mean, yes, its obviously been like that for awhile now, but for all the applause Frazier gets and deserves for football, he is just like every other AD in here starting with Phillips in neglecting basketball.
We can add a grilled cheese truck outside of Huskie Stadium, but you can't add a second concession line at a basketball game so that a crowd of 600 fans at a game do not have to wait 25 minutes in line, it really is high schoolish, I'll be honest about that.

Can you give us more examples?

Or their awful schedule isn't a very good litmus test for how good they are? Maybe they are a bad basketball team. We honestly don't know. Although a close win or loss to whatever YMCA league team they are playing at home tonight will let us know.

It is not over yet but we are up 18 at half. Shooting 57% at half but giving up 47%

Yeah that's not exactly pretty, good thing Roosevelt isn't really capable of taking advantage

RE: Roosevelt @ NIU predictions
What is the basis for the athletic department not caring about men's basketball? I am not being "cute" or anything else. The reason I ask is my feeling years ago that the athletic department did not seem to care about putting a competitive team on the floor. It was not just bad teams; it was the athletic department not taking any action in response to these bad teams. It was this feeling that made me apathetic about the team. When Monty was hired I felt that was the athletic department taking a step toward putting a competitive team on the floor. I am not sure how good this team is (and I think they will improve as the year progresses as freshman heavy teams are prone to doing) but IMO they are competitive! With the current young players and the really good 2016 class I see the team being much more than competitive! Has Monty put together a competitive team and hopefully a very good team in the future despite the athletic department? I am very excited about the direction we are going and this talk about the athletic department not caring about men's basketball is a bit of a downer!

There wasn't any talk of them not caring when we started out like crap last year. It's just a by product of us winning games so now people are taking notice. But they aren't exactly at the point where we need to worry about them showing a wednesday game against roosevelt. We aren't exactly a basketball power house.

It's because they have actually gotten worse. I think every game has been broadcast last year. At least 4 have not already this year. Let alone women's.

The game is on 560 tonight. Impressed with the announcing team of Brian (not sure his last name) and NIU great Rodney Davis.

Games were broadcasted more last year because we were one of 3 or 4 MAC schools who had the technology necessary to do so. That has changed this year.

What does more schools having the technology to broadcast have to do with that? There is no limit on the amount of MAC schools that are able to broadcast.

Doesn't ESPN get the say on who is broadcasted? I don't think the school does.
