In 2011 Houston brought a Top 10 team to Ruston and barely escaped alive with a 35-34 last second win. That's hardly embarrassing.

No one knows what would happen in that case and it isn't going happen. They did play USF and beat their ass. Pretty sure you didn't think UTSA would permanently taint your new stadium with an opening loss last year, either. But they did. Conference records are how EVERY conference ranks teams. OOC means nothing to conference rankings. Memphis did a lot more with their OOC and that's why they were ranked for a while, but they fell short in the AAC. Head-to-head only matters if you have the same conference record.
