I hope we go all chairbacks. Conflicting reports. But they are sure taking extremely great care in the 26k seats they are removing

Chairbacks encourage sitting :/

I hope they are at least sorting through them. I've seen quite a few in disrepair. I know there were comments made that they were near replacement had the Braves stayed.

I just want us to build a stadium that people in Atlanta would want to come to. And people in Atlanta are used to chairbacks.

Ga State fans, serious question that I'm sure has been discussed. Is the field going to run parallel with the 3rd base line? One end zone in what was left field and other endzones where home plate was located?

Pretty much up 3rd base although there may be a slight angle I hear due to seating angles. Yes to the end zones assumption as well.

Not trying to be overly critical, but I feel like this is going to look super weird when it is done. Like it will be extremely obvious that a rectangle peg was shoved into a triangle hole.

Maybe I just don't have the vision to see the final product in my mind.

Seating is going to be reconfigured so that it will be a football field with football seating. It will not be a triangle hole.

That is why entire sections of concrete, steel and seats are being removed. We are not just running a football field down 3rd base. And lets not forget what the prize is here. Its the building and its 250k sq feet of office space. Its the amazing outside facade. The renovation of this stadium into a football stadium is a national story which it would not have been if we were just building a 30k seat erector set from scratch.

Take some of that removed concrete up the road a few miles, I think they have a hole to cover up. A piece of metal won't cover that pothole.

The one area I would be concerned about is from behind home plate up the first base side. From the plans above the seats will have several different angles relative to the field in that area. It seems like they would have removed a few feet of dirt to allow for a wall to be built straight across the back of that end zone. Maybe the cost and time to do wouldn't allow for it, but it would take away most of the baseball feel that will be left over.

There is a reason heavy equipment is in there 03-wink

i think at least at the field level it will look and feel like a football field by August, Some other stuff may have to wait until Phase 2 and 3.

Waiting to hear what the estimated time will be on that. I cant see it be inside of 3 months even for the GDOT.

I'm going with the concrete it can be pressure washed nothing but building a yuuuuge wall is going to take the ugly out of the exterior of metal "erector set" construction.

Even with your pictorial examples, I'm not understanding the fuss.

Clam down. Your concrete looks just fine, and so does Coastal's metal. You look at our expansion pics, and the stadium looks gorgeous.

Georgia Southern has nothing to be ashamed of and neither does Coastal.

This grandstanding about "erector set" stadiums is just GS fans getting an "erector set" in their pants over their beloved concrete. It's ridiculous.

Preach to your own who said our stadium was a POS before lecturing or telling folks to calm down. It was the source.

Also get your cheerleaders under control.

I still must ask. How on earth does Georgia State intend to get this built in time for football season?

As long as the field is down they can play. The visitor side expansion at GS was being built during the football season same for the FOC. It might not be 100% but I think they have it ready enough to play a game safely.
