Texas Tech pregame
They are 8-1. Their loss was to Utah. Wins over Minnesota and Hawaii, although RPI says their best win was over So Dak State. Their last win was by 40 points over Pine Bluff, and they are own their own 7-game winning streak.

They likely will start 6-9, 6-8, 6-4 across the front line, and they can bring 6-11, 6-10 off the bench. Their defense is superb, as they allow 37.8% overall and only 30% from the arc. Plus, their defense has allowed only 83 assists against 132 turnovers. They are not a good 3-point team themselves, as they average only 31.5% from the arc. They are plus-1 on the boards.

They have three players in double figures. Toddrick Gotcher is their gunner, shooting 43.5% from the arc.

RealtimeRPI picks us by 4. Sagarin has Tech by 2, less than the home court advantage, and you would assume they would not have a big a crowd as usual with school out.

RE: Texas Tech pregame
I am curious about the 2 pm starting time. With the students gone, why would they not play it in the evening? This way I would think they would knock out both groups of fans from coming - students and general public.

From our standpoint, probably the fewer fans there works to our advantage.

A lot of pressure on us in this one, at least to us as fans. Pork Nation has their mouths already formed to say, "See, I told you so."

We're going to lose some games this season. Everyone loses. It's part of the game. So we don't have to apologize to Fayetteville or anyone else when we do lose. We're doing great, and if they can't stand it, it's their problem.

RE: Texas Tech pregame
Right now RPI picks Tech to lose to us by 4, and to lose to Fayetteville by 2 - and Fayetteville plays them at home. Even though basketball is not the money cow up there, the only way their "won't play them" strategy looks like anything but cowardice is if they are always unquestionably so much better than everybody else that they obviously just cannot be bothered with low-life like them, since it wouldn't be a game anyway. If other in-state teams start making a case that they realistically MIGHT beat Arkansas, that puts an entirely different light on the subject. That type of dominance translates into BIG bucks for them. Chickenhawgs. "Buck, buck, bakaw"

Folks, this is a huge game.

This will be a huge game for Coach Beard personally, since he spent several years there.

Do you reckon that Tubby will have his quickest guy in Johnson's hip pocket?

Well that will take one defensive player off the floor because he'll have to go over and sit next to Marcus on the bench for a little while, since that's where he'll be starting out the game.04-cheers

Texas Tech pregame
It is.

The program will not die with a loss but a win would really spring board things as recruiting and fan support would be helped.

I think you said the two magic words. Recruiting and fan support.
Actually that's about four words.04-cheers

Spend a lifetime here dealing with Fayetteville arrogance and you would understand. It is like Spartacus' army getting a chance to beat the Romans.

Be sure and see "Trumbo". Within the movie is the making of the film "Spartacus" for which Trumbo secretly wrote the screenplay since he had been blacklisted, and I won't tell you more since there are surprises. The young man who portrayed Kirk Douglas was outstanding casting. He really looked like Douglas when he was a young man.

RE: Texas Tech pregame
No offense intended, but here in Arkansas you can shout, "We are Little Rock" as loudly as you can, but no one will hear because they are all listening to Razorback Drive Time Sports, who might condescend to give us five minutes so they could talk about the "UALR" Trojans.
