Kinda ugly win, but a win over a very good team. Good shooting from the last few games left, but the Rockets played solid D, dominated the boards and took care of business at the line.
I like this offense where 5-6 players have the green light to drive the ball to the basket, but they really need to get stronger. Had 8 more shots blocked today.

Good observations. I would add that this was not an upset victory. This Rockets team has made huge strides since arriving in Tempe.

I really like Boyd's game. Her quickness and passing help give the offense some pep. She's also one of our better rebounders. This afternoon she had six rebounds in 15 minutes.

Good evaluation of her. Maybe the quickest player the rockets have had and she plays under control for a freshman.
One other observation. The coaches had a great game plan and the players did a good job of executing it. Against a much bigger, good team the Rockets out rebounded them 40 to 31, got more second chance points 10 to 4, and tied them with 18 points each in the paint.
Add to that we got more points off of turn overs 13 to 8.
With a combination of the new defenses, thanks to Tony Green, and good offense the Rockets out scored them in 3 out of 4 quarters. Good consistency.

And as the only poster who had faith in this team when it was 0-6, you would be forgiven if you felt the urge to gloat a bit right now.

Dola was awfully wuick before the surgrries, but Boyd is up there. She gave us a real spark last game, too.

Thank you for saying that but no gloating. Just shared my thoughts from WAY too many years of experience (nice way of saying I am old) and a lot of years of coaching. Also talking to the coaches and watching practices. We are all strong Rocket supporters! I appreciate your postings and those of others. Lets hope the success of the team continues. I think it is great that the Rockets have so many supporters posting, way more than any other university. You are a big part of keeping this going. Thank you for that.

A part of the awakening has been a serious shortening of the bench. Over the past 4 games playing time and scoring has been limited to six players. That certainly has improved competitiveness. Its always the trade off of getting wins for this year versus delaying the development of the younger players. If this is the rotation coach is using in the early season it is highly doubtful, except for injury, that those who are not playing now will get meaningful minutes in MAC play.
