Recent FCS to FBS move ups.
WTG APP State. 11/2 lost to Clemson and Ark State.

First 11 win team in Sun Belt History

First team to ever win 11 games in it's first eligible year transitioning to the FBS.

First FBS team to win a bowl game first year eligible.

Pulling for Georgia Southern to win their first bowl game also.

Should have moved up years ago. Weren't you on par with East Carolina a while back?

This season is also Georgia Southern's first as a bowl-eligible team, right?

Yes, App State and Georgia Southern transitioned at the same time.

hmmmm,

Is this a sign of how strong the ASU and GaSo programs are, or is this a sign just how weak the Sunbelt is?

Well, App only lost one OOC game to #1 Clemson and GaSo handily beat Western Mich. and took UGA to OT.

Both schools have tradition of winning and the expect it. I think it's probably a combo of a down SunBelt and two schools wanting to beat ass.

Is the SB that much weaker than normal though? ULaLa took a dip, Arky State is Arky State, Idaho and NMSU seemed to ball better this season at times, Georgia State went bowling.

The three top finishers in conference also had three of the top running games around.

Sounds okay to me.

Those two programs were very strong in FCS. App St beat Michigan, what 10 years ago now?

They've come in and directly competed with the best Sun Belt programs, like Ark St, which is certainly no slouch of a G5 program.

RE: Recent FCS to FBS move ups.
What would Jacksonville State's record be this year if they were in the Sun Belt instead of Georgia State? McNeese State could used the boast in coming up to FBS as well. They almost upset Nebraska last year. There are a lot of FBS type of programs stuck at the FCS and D2 levels with bunch of good players.

So in other words, this is normal for the Sunbelt, to be dominated by good FCS teams. Seems to be an argument that the sunbelt is no better than the top FCS conferences and their teams.

About as normal as it was for two recent move ups to dominate the top of the MAC. Perhaps the conference had nothing to do with how well App St or GS has played.

Not really if these same FCS teams beat P5 schools.

If Jacksonville State, McNeese State and Eastern Kentucky were in the SBC this year? There is a chance those three would go bowling before the 5-7 teams.

Likely a sign that football in the Southeast is the strongest in America.

The bottom of the Sun Belt is probably on par with the top of the FCS. For example, we killed a playoff bound Citadel team who beat South Carolina.

I think Toledo was the best MAC team this season and App was the best SBC team this season but it did not work out that way.

The bottom of the SEC is at the same level as the top of FCS. Jacksonville State almost went unbeaten this year. The only lost was to Auburn in OT.

And a FCS team that didn't even make the playoffs beat one of the SBC bowl teams.

Sun Belt is no different than any G5 league really. The bottom is very weak, and the top is pretty darn good. App and GS pounded teams from the CUSA and MAC to get to their rankings as well.

There are teams in the Sun Belt who haven't lost to an FCS in 15 plus years, and there are teams in the Sun Belt who lose to an FCS every year. That's no different than say a CUSA who had a really good top 4, but had a team at the bottom that lost by 59 points to Portland State. Ditto for the MAC, which saw 7 teams hit bowl eligibility this year, but had a really weak bottom.
