RE: New QB Commit
Was hoping to get a QB/P like the kid that signed some years ago that didn't make it.

We didn't need that kid anyway. He wouldve rode the bench at qb and punter.

Ion know, he might have started at punter since he was an all American.

we had back to back to back ray guy nominees during that time, highly doubt he would've started at punter..

RE: New QB Commit
Callaway had one or two years that were heavy juco early in his tenure because of the limited amount of scholarships we had since Watson left us on probation due to APR, leaving callaway no choice but to sign heavy JUCO early. Last 3 years were mainly all highschool kids.

Might be same result but he was very close to turning the corner with those teams. He also left McGoof in a better position when he took over. Good hire (McGoof)on paper and total flop. People don't like to admit it but Callaway was close to turning it around but I don't think he ever would. He is a damn good position coach though.

RE: New QB Commit
McGee was worse than Callaway & Callaway tried.

Don't believe he would have ever gotten over the hump though.

Wasn't Callaway's fault that Cubby wouldn't provide the program anything.

Was the game where Callaway flipped us off for yelling "Resign!" at him his last?

RE: New QB Commit
Well does Turner sign on for spring play or is he the JuCo?

McGee was a better coach than Callaway hands down.

Callaway went heavy on hs players in 07, 08-10 heavy JuCo and 2011 high school again.

That's not entirely true - Bryant insisted on an extension for Callaway after he went 3-9.

RE: New QB Commit
Callaway was one game away several times from turning the corner. . a win away in 2009 with 2 to play would've either a) gotten us in a bowl game or b) conf champ game if we had won last 2 games. 2010 if we beat Tennessee who knows where that could've catapulted the program. . callaway was close

How that 2009 team only won 5 games is beyond my explanation. They could flat out play

Bryant promised we could build a stadium if we gave him an extension. Of course, this was already a step down from his promise to help pay for a stadium himself for hiring him.
