This Thought Makes Sense on B12 Expansion
For those saying not another B12 Expansion thread, I get it. But at least it gets the discussion off our coach and Ole Miss for a minute.

From Christopher Lambert about an hour ago:

Expansion nugget: If the B12 is really cooling on expansion why are so many schools from lessor confs maneuvering for AAC membership?

From Greg Fluguar:

It's also why B12 leading candidates are recruiting hot beds...-CINCY - Memphis - UH.

I think the new recruiting areas for the B12 really works to our favor, maybe not as important as new TV markets, but very important.

RE: This Thought Makes Sense on B12 Expansion
Lambert obviously watching Utah killing BYU and tweeting:

I don't care about their time zones - the Big 12 is crazy for not adding BYU & Boise AND Cincy + (UCF, Memphis).

and 2 minutes later:

Add BYU & Boise as football only. Impact of their time zones is minimized that way.

I think he's behind the curve on UCF; they don't get in this round. But the BYU & Boise State for football makes some sense.

Boise ST makes zero sense. No tv sets. Also, the distance is unreal. If you take the direct fly distance from Austin TX to Boise, ID, then here are some of the places on earth that are closer to Austin Texas than Boise:

The entire country of Mexico
Most of Central America, including Belize, Nicaragua, Honduras, etc.
The Bahamas
Jamaica

Memphis is closer to Los Angeles than it is to Boise.

The point being, Boise St is way the hell up in the middle of freaking nowhere. Its not just to the north west of Austin or the rest of the B12 footprint, its 1800 miles to the northwest.

All true, but if football only not nearly as big a deal.

Yep, ignore him if you want, I not trying to force him on anyone. They have followed expansion for years though. Just pull up their twitter handle, and you can read all of their past tweets.

None are perfect, but they were saying don't believe the BS the B12 conference was putting out a year ago - that expansion was not even being considered.

Fluguar claims to have a source he calls BTM, Big 10 Man, tied to TV/ESPN/Fox with B10 conference. I follow him because he seems to have no horse in the race. Somebody from BYU board put together some of his expansion tweets, Fluguar says BYU is out, thus the tone of the intro:

Flugaur on Twitter has what he considers to be solid news that the B12 will expand for the 2017 season. For BYU fans the news is not good.

See the posts below:

Greg Flugaur @flugempire "1h1 hour ago Important note. B12 expansion Train is further down the track than believed.

Quite a change. But reasons have been stated. If B10 has it read right...B12 near future will consist of: CINCY/UH Or CINCY/Memphis

Greg Flugaur @flugempire "2h2 hours ago B12, according to what the B10 now believes, has vetoed the idea of moving into a 3rd time zone. BYU location >> (-) vs BYU Big Brand (+)

Greg Flugaur @flugempire "11h11 hours ago "I think there's a better than 50 percent chance in the next 24-36 months that the University of Houston is in a major conference" Fertitta

Greg Flugaur @flugempire "11h11 hours ago More than a few reasons BYU is out..but location has reared its head. 11:00am games not going away. Travel expenditures is a key component

Greg Flugaur @flugempire "11h11 hours ago B12 will expand for 2017 FB season. And according to B10 perception it won't be BYU or UCF.

Greg Flugaur @flugempire "11h11 hours ago UH or Memphis is 12....according to B10 perception (what they have heard) B12 is at...at this point. B12 is working on this expansion

Greg Flugaur @flugempire "11h11 hours ago But it has become more important that no B12 school is pushing against a CINCY B12 invite. B10 perception has changed..CINCY is 11

Greg Flugaur @flugempire "11h11 hours ago BTM goes even farther...UCF candidacy is is considered doomed..as ESPN has its "thumb down" on its potential candidacy to B12.

Greg Flugaur @flugempire 11h11 hours ago According to BTM, B10 perception is that "more than a couple of B12 schools have "put a stop" to a BYU candidacy due to BYU location.

BTM now proclaims the B10 perception has changed on who the B12 has as top 3 candidates for 2 spots. UH-CINCY-Memphis. Quite a change

The BTM he referrs to is "Big Ten Man" a source who I believe in previous tweets he hinted may be from tOSU. Would BYU be interested in a MWC invite if this is true? Would we be willing to extend such an invite? Would our TV partners be willing to give us a raise in pay if such an invite was accepted? Could Hair handle this with competence and eptitude? With Boise and BYU in the MWC we would be favored for the access bowl 3 out of 5 years I believe. But I could be wrong.

Look, you're new here -I get it.
We've watched these guys before. They're old news to us.
We had a guy who would tie everything together for us-and had his own local sources too.
He followed things very closely and would give updates.

He will no longer post here re expansion.
There are many small minds on this board who expect everything(even when presented as fluid) to be gospel truth forevermore. If, not, then whoever better shutup and they are ignorant or downright lying.

So, yeah, we know these guys. And we know they've been all over the board on expansion info.
While it's fun to read, they don't know any more than anyone else who spends time studying expansion possibilities.

Not new here, but thanks for the condescension.

I said previously ignore if you want, not trying to push him on anyone. I have followed Fluguar for years on twitter. He seems to have good info most of the time.

I actually have a post-graduate degree, and am able to make a judgement on whether or not I think a writer is full of crap. I don't think Fluguar is full or crap. He really has no reason to post, since he is a Gopher. But, like me, he finds the expansion talk interesting I guess, so he does.

If you are not new here, then you have to already know the history of expansion and threads and info on this board.
You would also know that those guys have been quoted ad nauseum here. As well as several other expansion posters from across the country.
I'm just telling you-they're old news and seem to flip info almost daily or weekly.
It's nothing new.

OK, Pastnerized. No harm done.

I disagree. I think the discussion has evolved. I think grouping all college writers and tweeters into a uniform group is lazy thinking.

Memphis was maybe a top 10 candidate in the summer of 2014. Now, by almost all accounts, we are a top 3. UCF and BYU were top-tier candidates even earlier this year. Now, it seems they are 2nd tier.

I really like the AAC, and am not dying to get into the B12. I've been to Lubbock often with a previous job, and Stillwater and Manhattan. New Orleans and Dallas and Houston and Philly are much more attractive places.

The expansion process is interesting to me, so I keep up with it as much as possible and comment on it. Not claiming to be an expert.
