Works at P5's. Doesn't work at Memphis. We are one of the most penalized schools in NCAA.

Correct, history shows we get caught cheating and sanctions would likely torpedo our near-term P5 membership effort. Cheating is not an option for us.

To paraphrase Charles Barkley " If you ain't cheating, you ain't trying" I bet most here would take another final four ride, who cares about afterwards? If people cared, Cal wouldn't be at Kentucky and Pitino wouldn't be at Louisville.

Way to answer the question. Apparently you can't even have discussion. Save your arrogance for someone else.

Nice. Aside from the obvious greatness at the end of Cals run here, I loved our toughness. I have a acquaintance here in Atlanta who is a Duke alum and is buddies with John Smoltz who is a huge Michigan State fan. In the 2008 game, when Memphis came out on the floor for warm ups, Smoltz was on the floor and texted him something to the effect of "good god look at this team....men vs boys". Guy showed me the text. One of my prouder moments as a remote Tiger. After that game, SEC people around here actually started respecting the Tigers.

Point being, toughness matters.

We literally were men against boys.

Dorsey was something like 25, Anderson and Dozier were four years out of high school, and CD-R was a Junior. Kemp and Mack were sophomores, and Taggart was a sophomore who sat out a year so was older than that,. Only Rose was a freshman.

Last night saw two high school senior aged kids, and two true freshmen play major minutes. Shaq, Tarrant, Burrell and Woodson are indeed older, but not quite like Dorsey and company.

Nonsense.

Gottfried didn't care that Lowe was run out at NCST.

Hurley didn't care that Sendek was run from AZST.

Cal didn't care that Gillespie was run from KY.

Etc.

Yeah, because it's so intimidating following an oracle of college basketball like Josh Pastner. I think in the history of college basketball, the only more intimidating hire would be UCLA when John Wooden retired.

Ncrdbl1, since "no one is going to take a chance" at a historically successful, high-paying, high-school prospect rich Memphis job, I guess we'll just have to shut down the program.

Do you even read what you type sometimes to see how ridiculous you sound?

Yeah, because P5 teams don't cheat. 01-wingedeagle

Here's my criteria: Someone who knows what it takes to win at the DI college level, can communicate in practice, and can spot it in high school/AAU games.
Bruce Pearl but we are 1 year to late, you could not pay him enough to come here now.

Auburn was crushed by Xavier today and were beaten by MTSU. The rest of their schedule is not exactly murders row.

You do know that Xavier is undefeated, right?

OK is undefeated, also. Auburn lost 85-61. We lost to OK 84-78.

Let's get the coach of Xavier.

Yes, there is the risk that the next coach will be worse than the present coach off and on the court. It is a possible outcome the "get rid of Pastner at any cost" crowd refuse to acknowledge but exists nevertheless .

RE: The next basketball coach...
I think right now our best option is to ride it out with Pastner but the program may not have the time. Yes it is frustrating to watch him learn but when he does get it figured out there will be no turning back. We have too much time and money invested in Pastner now and passed on Pearl when we should have made our move.

Sorry but I have given up living and dying with this basketball team after 40 years of being a die hard fan.

What really hurt for me is not for Pastner to struggle, what has killed it for me was Cals big FU to all of Tiger Nation and I guess my priorities are changing after watching disappointing season after disappointing season for too many years after that now.

Had Pastner been able to win a few big games after the Cal snub I may have been able to hang in there but this program has been descending ever since Cal left despite Pastners efforts. Everything in the Pastner era has been hype and spin and I bought in as long as I could.

Somebody please pm me or wake me up when it changes. After 40 years living, breathing Tiger basketball I've basically lost my GAS. Too much else that goes on in life. I'm very proud of you Tiger fans still hanging in there and grateful to the players who represent our University and City.
