When the lights went out
It was a bad omen. Walking thru downtown in the dark, feeling quite the soft target, then freezing outside waiting to be let in, then killing an hour waiting for the delayed start...
I should have taken the hint and left.

The game was delayed because of a power outage downtown?

I left, got all the way home, heard on the radio the game would start in about 40 minutes. I turned around and drove back downtown. I wish I had stayed home.

RE: When the lights went out
Honestly, you were probably safer downtown than in your own home, no matter whether you live in Midtown, East Memphis, North or South Memphis, or the burbs.

Downtown, even in the dark, is statistically the safest area of the whole city.
