The Official Mediocre P5 Football Program Thread
With all this talk about the 'high standards' of what it takes to be a P5 program, I thought I'd start a thread to identify some of the current P5 members that are historically mediocre to god-awful.
During their existence, these programs are basically extremely lucky to have that 'golden ticket' in hand, despite doing nothing to show they deserve it.
I know for a fact, that if ALL P5 and G5 teams were reset overnight and a draft was held, that many of the AAC teams would be more desirable than these football programs.
Again, this is for the football product only and we can all add a non-worthy Program
I'll start with the first unworthy Program

Sure there are quite a few of them. Some of the wound fall to the best of the FCS on a regular basis.
With that said they are grandfathered into the club and aren't going anywhere

I would love to be in a conference with a school like Wake Forest. Good institution that has a LONG history in athletics and does deliver some good teams in the "second tier" of sports.

Wake at least played in an Orange Bowl in the last 10 years. I could name worse.
Also, they're in the 46th ranked TV market, not sure where your numbers came from.

Conference Title in 2006....it's there.... read again.
FYI- they lost that Orange Bowl to Louisville. My point is that they've been playing college football since 1888 and have only won TWO conference titles and have only ranked inside the top 25 ONCE in their history.
