What if Texas A&M and Missouri joined the SEC?
Man, imagine what would have to happen to make THAT take place?

Also discuss.

Please stop posing wild fantasies, and focus your comments on the more realistic realignment scenarios found in the other recent threads on this board. 07-coffee3

Missouri has no chance SEC will not take an AAU school. Watch for the Big Ten to go to 14 though and add Kansas and Missouri with Nebraska. SEC will take Texas before A&M and try to get OU. WVU, Ville, Cincy, USF, Rutgers, and UCONN will probably add ECU, UCF, Memphis, and Temple to get to the Big East to ten. The Big 12 will probably back fill with Tulsa, Southern Miss, Tulane, Houston, Rice, and SMU.

One thing is sure. The Big12 will not add any schools from Texas as replacements. TCU and Houston have no chance.

I also can't see the Big12 going east to grab WV, Cincy or Pitt. All that would do is create an Island. Louisville maybe but absolutely no farther east than Louusville.

Clearly the only logical moves are to go west and grab NM, CSU, BYU and SDSU.

I'm wondering how long until Arkansas enters the SEC. South Carolina joined recently.

Someone should make some sort of interweb message box to talk about this stuff.

I predict that Missouri won't be missed.

The thing is, Missouri would have to play in the SEC West, because of their location, and in that division they would get absolutely demolished. They'd have some of their linemen transferring to another school just to get a one year rest and recovery period.

They might have a fighting chance in the SEC East, but that would be just geographically implausible, so it will never happen.

Mizzou will never win a SEC East division championship.

Afterall the sec didn't invent football but did perfect it. They play a bruising he man style and no team from a namby pamby throw the ball 90% of the time conference like the Big12 which is just basketball on grass is going to succeed in the SEC, just put it out of your mind already.

Yes, I concede that they would likely never win an SEC East division championship (much less 2), but at least in the East they would not necessarily be relegated to permanent cellar dweller status.

But that's a moot point. Just look at the map: how could anybody serious suggest Missouri should be put in the East? And so, clearly, Mizzou would look at the advance straight into the SEC West buzz-saw and would balk at joining.

And so (again, clearly) Mizzou is going to be in the Big12 long term ... its not as if the Big Ten is going to get a chance at an East Coast school to go to 13, and be looking around for a #14 school to balance out the realignment.

That would be something. One shudders at the thought. Cheers!
