Bowl season comes full swing on Saturday with 5 games starting at 2 PM. A few good matchups but no AAC representative yet. That doesn't come until Monday the 21st when USF plays in the Miami Beach Bowl. I like that our conference mates don't play on the first weekend. Here is the lineup for Saturday:

Dec. 19 New Mexico Albuquerque, N.M. 2 p.m. (ESPN) Arizona (6-6) vs. New Mexico (7-5)
Dec. 19 Royal Purple Las Vegas, Nev. 3:30 p.m. (ABC) BYU (9-3) vs. Utah (9-3)
Dec. 19 Camellia Montgomery, Ala. 5:30 p.m. (ESPN) Ohio (8-4) vs. Appalachian State (10-2)
Dec. 19 Cure Orlando, Fla. 7 p.m. San Jose State (5-7) vs. Georgia State (6-6)
Dec. 19 New Orleans New Orleans, La. 9 p.m. (ESPN) Arkansas State (9-3) vs. Louisiana Tech (8-4)

I'd say BYU-Utah is the best game but the 3:30 PM time slot from Vegas? How about App State with their first ever bowl game after joining the Sun Belt only two years ago? Great achievement for them.

With two intriguing matchups (AZ-NM, U-Y) and two North Carolina teams (App State and NCA&T in FCS Bowl) I'm looking forward to a day of football. Bowl season is finally here.

I'm intrigue about GA St and NM and App St. Davie, resurrecting NM from oblivion and Ga St and App St would are recently just turn FBS goes to a bowl.
I see Utah blowing out BYU anyway.

And yeah, I'm no fan of having bowls so early...but I guess the intent is to give the MW a showcase without being crowded by other bowls.

I'll be interested to see how many folks attend that game in the Cramton Bowl, which was built in like the 20's, and is basically a big high school stadium. For those in NC that have ever been to the Shrine Bowl at Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, its similar, without the pretty skyline backdrop that Charlotte affords.

I was thinking the gloves will be off since they have been spurned by both Mendenhall and Niumatalolo. But then again, BYU doesn't need any incentive for the players to be _icks. It just comes natural.

Some might remember the Blue-Grey Football Classic, the college all star game played on Xmas day every year from 1939-2001, it was played in Montgomery in the Cramton Bowl. Small stadium but is a reported sellout, should be a good game day atmosphere.
