Jay Bilas ranked us as the #46 team in the country
(46.) Memphis Tigers The Tigers are 6-2 with losses against Oklahoma and UT-Arlington (which is a good team). Memphis can defend, but scoring is a problem. The Tigers are in the bottom third in Division I in 3-point shooting. Freshman Dedric Lawson ranks in the American's top three in both scoring and rebounding.
behind Northwestern ahead of UNLV

All with a transfer point guard, juco sixth man, and two freshmen stars and scan fan support. Oh, yes and don't forget a coach that the experts here say can't coach. Wow, what Jay got in his orange juice?

That's a negative viewpoint of the players, frenchy.
How about putting it this way and the picture begins to clear - two McDonald's AAs on the frontline (only 10 other schools in the country have as many Mickey Ds), several other top 50-100 rated HS players, a top 10 rated JUCO, a handful of seniors, and a couple of former starters at SEC schools, one of whom was also CUSA Freshman of the Year?
And a schedule where 80% of the rosters don't have near the raw talent.

RE: Jay Bilas ranked us as the #46 team in the country
This team has played relatively well to this point. Tomorrow's game probably won't tell us much. If we win, folks will say it's no big deal because we were supposed to win. If we lose...don't even want to think about that.
Bilas is probably pretty accurate and I, too, would probably have us somewhere between 45 and 49. That said, being #46 most likely won't get us in the NCAA tournament...with only 36 at large bids, we need to end up closer to 40 or so.

Don't forget that our young players will steadily improve (due to experience and confidence gained) as the season progresses. I like this team.

I don't disagree, GA...I also think they will improve as the season plays out. But, I also know that our opponents' young players will also improve as the season progresses. It balances out.

How about we support the team because they wear the U of Memphis Tiger name.

Our margin for error is thin, but our positioning for an at large bid appears to be better than commonly realized.

Agreed...once the calendar flips, there are several games remaining on the schedule that will give us ample opportunity to improve our position.

The question this season is the same as the last 6-8 seasons: Can you beat ranked teams? So far, the answer is no.

If the tournament committee thinks we are the 46th best team in the country, we'll be in Dayton. Book those hotel rooms now!

There are only 37 at large bids I believe.
