Down on the banks of the Ohio river: rumors 2/16/15

The B12 knows who they're adding. It has already been decided.

Wow. Hearing SEC is exploring how to get WVU out of B12 gor. Never believed any interest before but this from a reliable source

Utini ‏@PromiscuousJawa 14h14 hours ago
Also exploring Cincinnati. More attractive now w stadium/arena upgrades. Would be move to get north.
I fully expect Cincy to be in ACC at some point but this could change things if SEC strikes. Would also leave B12 with a conundrum

Is ESPN tampering to dismantle the B12? Hmmm.
My sources tell me the B12 implosion will begin to manifest in March. It will start to become clear that 4X16 does not include B12.

@flugempire @NebGradDubDub @posas13 @OmegaSupreme914 @Expansion_Crush OU is B10 bound my friend. Wait and see.

Utini ‏@PromiscuousJawa 2h2 hours ago
B12 has No plans to announce expansion prior to 2017 making it at least 2018 before teams join. Houston and Memphis are the targets.
Cincinnati is rumored everywhere as going to B12 but my source says the belief is that Cincy won't be available by 2017.
Info stemming from a rush teleconference call this week. B12 expect to see deregulation of CCG voted down with B10/P12 banding together.

ESPN on the hook for next 10 years with most NCAA obligations. Revenue diminishing. Obligations have escalators. How do you get out of that?
You do it by causing one of the conferences to disband. Obligation gone. Consolidate.
They'll have trouble landing B10 first tier rights again if they don't cut somewhere.

SEC after Cincinnati and WVU? OU B1g bound?

Might have to fire Greg for that one. One would think even OU/OSU >> WVU/Cincy combo to the SEC.

I'm sure most SEC folks would not care to see Cincinnati and/or WVA in the SEC but what a way for the SEC to stick it in the eye of the B1G. The Buckeyes and Urban would surely get their panties in a bunch over this development. It also would open up Ohio to the SEC especially northern Ohio. Southern Ohio always preferred the SEC. Kelly at Alabama is just the latest Cincinnatian to go south.05-stirthepot

Cincinnati would be a solid addition. West Virginia would be a waste of time.

I highly doubt Promiscuous Jawa has any real information. Pretty sure he's another one of those WVU homers that think they know everything and/or are trying to get attention.

With that said, I wouldn't mind adding Cincinnati to the SEC. I think they could be a valuable addition if for no other reason than to mitigate the influence of the B1G and hasten the demise of the Big 12 which could land us OU sooner.

But, no way the SEC is going to go to war over WVU. Someone is flat out lying on that one.

If we were to add UC then we would have to at least be getting a solid school from another large market.

I'd rather go to war for Kansas than West Virginia - get both sides of the Kansas City market, plus even if Oklahoma goes B1G, they are surrounded by the SEC.

West Virginia's culture is the most SEC like. Not sure if Cincinnati brings anything Kentucky can't as I'm sure many UK grads move to that market for jobs. I wouldn't mind Kansas as it would reunite with Mizzou and bring a blue blood basketball program.

1. Ohio. 2 What WV market? There isn't even a legitimate airport in WV. 3. This report is likely garbage.

I agree with pretty much everything you just posted except for the absent descriptor "part of" for Ohio and the use of the word "likely".
