What is up with Texas A&M?
1 QB gone and the heir apparent is now leaving as well? Is Sumlin leaving for the NFL or something? Just seems strange that when Texas is down and struggling that A&M can't take advantage because they are as well. It would be a kick in the pants if Murray ends up at Texas.

something is keeping that dumpster fire burning. AD need to extinguish it and build/rebuild. I think Sumlin's on the hot seat next year, only had success with Johnny Football throwing to that mismatch Evans.

IMO A&M and Texas are both suffering from the promotion of Baylor and T.C.U. to the P5. Adding Houston will only make it worse. Their talent is now heavily recruited by other regions and the stay at home kids have 5 options to stay in the P5. I think it has weakened them all an there is nobody to blame but Texas and Texas politics.

Sumlin, like Malzahn, seems to be unconcerned with defense. I'm not surprised that A&M is about where Auburn is because of that. Both coaches only recruit for, and play half of the game.

Newton made the difference for 1 year at Auburn. Manziel was good but not as good as Newton and that is the only difference in the two programs right now. IMO A&M would be better off with an old line hard nosed defensive coach who makes a living running the ball. That's still how the vast majority of championships are won.

IIRC, that was the night of the loss to Alabama.

Got a feeling A&M and (sorry JR) Auburn might be in for rough seasons.

No offense taken. The truth is the truth. You can't win in the SEC without defense. I'm afraid Gus is a one trick pony.

BREAKING: I have confirmed that freshman quarterback Kyler Murray has requested a transfer from Texas A&M and that the decision is 'final.'

You know, I keep hearing rumors of how Texas should go all out and over pay to get Nick Saban to right their ship. I'm starting to think maybe A&M should outbid them.

Problem with Gus' HUNH spread is you need the right QB. It sometimes takes more than one season to pick up all the readings and options.

Based on past experience, Texas A&M will do well this season only because they are on TN's schedule.

Bo Mattingly does a sports radio show in Arkansas and likes to tweet highlights of his guests

Bo Mattingly ‏@SportsTalkwBo 15m15 minutes ago
Horns Digest’s @ChipBrownHD joins the show now to talk about the situation at A&M.

Listen: http://sportstalkwithbo.com

Brown: The Texas A&M chancellor is unhappy with the direction of the program & is working to terminate Kevin Sumlin’s contract.

Brown: I’m told today that a decision to terminate Sumlin’s contract could also include a decision to get rid of the AD Eric Hyman.

Brown: There’s a $20M buyout for Sumlin, and I’m told Sharp is going to try and cut that in half or fire Sumlin for cause.

There is nothing wrong with Texas A&M that getting rid of Sumlin won't cure. I know I have beaten this drum before, but I think the perfect hire for A&M isn't any of the names usually mentioned, including Herman. David Shaw is the guy. They could double Shaw's current salary and still not approach Saban money. He is badly underpaid at Stanford and they will probably give him a big boost, so the time is now if someone is going to get him.

+1 for Shaw
