Why would he...?

He has a great, no-pressure gig at UVA with arguably the most patient AD on planet ANYWHERE.

I do agree but Wisconsin is his home and his family does still live in the Madison, Wisconsin area.

Why would anyone leave Charlottesville for anywhere in Wisconsin?

RE: Will Tony Bennett leave UVa for Wisconsin...
Tony may be from Wisconsin, but his wife is from around these parts, so says Wikipedia:

Quote:Bennett is married and has two children, one son and one daughter. Bennett met his wife at a church in nearby North Carolina, while he was playing for the Charlotte Hornets.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Benne...sonal_life

Plus, he has school-aged kids.

Ain't enough money on planet ANYWHERE that Wisconsin can throw at Bennett that would make his wife leave "her home", uproot her kids and move to COLD. Nope.

Plus, UVA has DEEEEEEEP pockets. Especially for men's hoops. DEEEEEEEEEP pockets. They'll match whatever.

Plus, and I can't stress this enough: Wisky's current AD is Barry Alverez. Would YOU want to go coach under him...?

I'm in complete agreement...in the end I see this getting him a raise at UVa...but make no mistake IMO Alvarez is going to come after him

Why leave a gig in the best college basketball conference in the country for a ho-hum Big Ten job.

Commonwealth of Virginia vs State of Wisconsin....enough said

Money won't be the issue. Working for Alvarez and what ever the reason Ryan stepped down mid-season will be the issues.

True. In hoops, the Big Ten is on a par with the ACC, though few ACC fans are likely to acknowledge this.

Bennett has a great job already, and doesn't need to go anywhere. And if he is patient, there are a few pretty good jobs in the ACC likely to come open within the next few years that might appeal to him. How much longer will Coach K, Roy Williams and Rick Pitino stay on the bench?

Bennett really can't make a bad choice here. He's in the driver's seat.

The ACC hasn't won the ACC/B1G challenge since 2008.
5 B1G wins and 2 ties.
Just sayin'...

The last B1G/ACC Challenge I recall, Duke won it over Wisconsin.

Not sayin' ... just saying.

Like I said yesterday, there won't be enough loot on planet "anywhere" that Barry can use to lure Mrs. Bennett away from her home and move up north. And, Virginia has DEEEEEEEEEEEEP pockets when men's college basketball is concerned.

If you look at the history, certain Big Ten teams NEVER play ranked ACC teams. ACC teams like Louisville for instance gets a ranked Ohio State at home and gets sent on the road to Michigan State. Top 5 Louisville gets a #14 Ohio State squad at home last season while Top 5 Michigan State gets an unranked Louisville at home this year.

Looks a whole lot like Florida Out of Conference football scheduling to me.

ACC/Big Ten Challenge has never been a good way to measure which conference is better. It is all about matchups. I also felt this way when the ACC dominated the challenge for the first ten years. For example, in 2008 a Wake team that ended up #12 ranked nationally (with a 24-7 overall, 11-5 ACC record) played an 6-25 Indiana team in the challenge. That was an AUTOMATIC win for the ACC.

Good call, Hitman! That shindig at the end of the year is the real measuring stick anyway. The ACC has an advantage over most all other conferences in that regard---it's the one the Big East had....Diversity!

This conference doesn't have just one style that it plays. The BE was very diverse and prepared its teams so well for all the different teams they would face in the Dance. Same goes for the ACC Now---we've got an eclectic collection of schools and after going thru this sucker of a Conference grind we all be chewin' batteries like chex-mix!

Bring---It!
